I'm amazed at how many people are still naming Jackson. We're talking about guys when they were in the White House, right? Do you know how old he was? Do you know how many times he'd been shot?

Andrew Jackson. Maybe not the fastest on the track, but he'd sure tough it out on the cross country course. If I remember right, he survived a bullet merely inches away from his heart. Plus, while the Kenyans are talking big about tactics, he'd say "They have made their decision; now let them enforce it."

Of all the presidents of this grand ol' country, which 5 would you pick for a XC team. I was thinking of going to seven but five would make it more limited. We will say it is at the time they were in office and not in their prime.
Here are mine:
1.) Abe Lincoln
2.) JFK
3.) Barack Obama
4.) Thomas Jefferson
5.) Bill Clinton
How could you pick Clinton over Bush the younger, especially since this is all recent history. Clinton ran to shed pounds, of which he had a few extra. Bush actually maintained a normal weight, biked frequently, stayed active, and ran in a 5km or two...and I remember reading on LRC that his time was respectable. Perhaps someone can find the LRC info on Bush's 5km's.
Can't speak of Lincoln or Jefferson.
Picking Obama is debatable. He is thin, and younger...that helps. But he has a history of smoking...that cant help. Has anyone ever seen him run? I've seen him play basketball, but not run.
It appears that Bush ran a 5K in 20:27 at age 55 (while President).

Looks like busch 5km was already posted, thank you. A 20:57
now, was it a 5km? I have run "5kms" that were 2.95 miles and another that was 3.21 miles. So , sometimes its called a 5km, but its not a 5km.....either way, even if short we know he can run decently...and once you age group it, it ends up being even better.

Bill Clinton was far too fat to be a decent runner. He jogged, but his legs were so chunky that he couldn't have been running fast. George W. Bush ran some decent 5k times before he became president, so he should definitely be a the team.
Gerald Ford was probably the most accomplished athlete of any U.S. President. He was a starter on Michigan's national championship football team and passed up an opportunity to play pro football in order to go to law school. I'm not sure any other president could claim they were a prospective pro athlete.
George Bush Sr. played baseball at Yale.
George W. Bush was probably the fittest president while actually in office. As has been documented here, he ran a 20-something 5K while president, and later cycled after his knees started giving him trouble (he still cycles on a regular basis). He also ran a 3:44 marathon before becoming president.

Wrong kind of Kenyan.
Racist does not want a half-white Kenyan who claims to be an american.
Can I get a team of 5 Paul Ryan's?
