mikitenko SMASHED her own master record of 2:26.41 by almost 2 minutes, she ran 2:24.54 for 3rd today at age 41.
also props to desiree davilla for finishing 5th in one of the worlds top 5 elite marathons, especially after her injuries, she beat all the ethiopian girls and only 3 kenyan girls beat her.
Wilson Kipsang and Florence Kiplagat have both complained about the wind in their post-race interviews. Kiplagat also had blisters and did just enough to win.
What animal is that mascot supposed to be?

Actually the record belonged to Lyudmila Petrova at 2:25:43. Mikitenko now holds both 35 and 40 records.

OMG. I think we found the little girl that got her a** kicked by Mekhissi -Benabbad.
Anyone got results past winners? Or a link?
World record! Ha, the home page as of now is pretty low key for a Marathon World Record, the improvement was significant. I'm not going to doubt the very fastest record attemptors when they say they can go "faster," but still... it boggles the mind a bit. I look forward to seeing some pics and a micro-bio profile on this guy with some candids possibly.
Special homepage tributes are reserved for 2nd and 3rd place finishing by white American runners, doncha know?

Dude, the brojos have made it no secret that the site covers world distance running, but is focused on American distance running.
Also, Kipchoge 2:04:05!
Fastest 1 and 2 finish ever on a record-eligible course, right?
Does Rentato still coach Kipsang?

Mm salad.
Kipsang knows he might not have it vs Kipchoge in a sprint, so is putting the hammer down! 2:03:25!
So you admit to enjoying Salad Tossing.
Now it's time for another round of sub-2 hr. marathon articles!

victor kipchirchir was 1:28.01 with the leaders at 30k, at 35k he was 1:53.28.he ran that 5k stretch in 25:27.
Wasn't he a pacer?
Maybe blew up but still wanted to go to 35 for his payday? Odd as I doubt they pay for that speed...
And he probably won't get a finisher's medal or t-shirt either.

YES.
Guy runs a 2:03:42 in Frankfurt with that weird finish, and barely gets mentioned because Makau did a 2:03:38 the week before.
Goes all Wanjiru on it in London and pays the price.
Makes good today in a huge way.
Best marathoner on earth: W Kipsang vs G Mutai?
Mutai G versus Kipsang Wilson will be one great race.
Throw in Kipchoge too and probably Kebede.
That will be something.

Anyone know the answer to this?
Don't think so, he didn't even believe Kipsang would break 2h04...he thought Kipsang was too busy building his new hotel! The truth is that Kipsang was training with a group of over 40athlets helping him with paces...
