Saarel wins the fast heat in 8:45. Peterman wins the 2nd section in 8:57. Other CU recruit Perrin ran 8:57 in the fast section. Good day for the class of 17

I think Montoya was in shock that the guy would not come back to him. I think Montoya closed in about 56. Saarel got a good jump on the field right before the bell.
I agree. You could see the expression on Montoya's face face. He was shocked. Damn I'm excited to see CU bound Saarel join the Buffs! His future teammates Zach Perrins and Adam Peterman both also ran excellent times.
Peterman and Perrins! Go Montana. Only sub 9 Montanans in State History!!!
So what, still not sub 9 for two miles.

No one runs the two mile anymore. Get off your high horse and get with reality.
Saarel's performance is outstanding. Not to be overlooked, third place finisher Blake Haney (CA) ran 8:48 and is only a junior.
Would someone post the results? I can't pull them up off of the cited site.
So Saarel went 4:34/4:11 (54.99 last lap, 26.7 last 200) and Montoya went 4:36/4:10.9 (55.60 last lap.)
Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to what would have happened of they'd run even pace?

Would they have threatened German's record? How much better was he?
How can one obtain lap by lap splits of the boys 3200 invitational AND seeded races. I remember last year you could view lap by lap splits of all the 3200 races (instead of just seeing their last 200) and I would really appreciate it if I could find lap by lap splits... Thanks!

This is pretty amazing. Splits for every runner to the thousandth of a second.

Impressive race.
4:34, 4:11 for a 8:45 is the equivalent of a 4:20, 4:20 for a 4:40.
Since this was a 3200, add 3 seconds for a 8:43 two mile.
3.6 seconds, so ~8:49.34 2-mile for the winner.
But they don't have the lap by lap splits of the Seeded 3200's? Last year they did... That's what I sort of want to see haha

Ummm...pretty sure that question involved a hypothetical around the question as to what could these folks have done off of an even pacing effort.
I will buy your 3.6 seconds, though. So 8:40 3200 = 8:43.6 two mile.
Thanks!

The 1600m splits were not run at an even pace, especially not the 2nd one.
Holy ****, this is insane

Probably a sub-8:40, though I had previously guessed Saarel capable of 8:45. Doesn't Lukas V. hold the 3200 record as a split en route to his 8:29 two-mile (or its conversion?). Or what about Nelson's 8:36 two-mile, converted to 8:33?
Still an awesome performance with a wicked negative split and blazing last 600. CU's going to have a great team if these guys can stay healthy.

Wrong. Your only looking at 3.0 sec conversion. About a 1.5 for the 1600 to mile. Time it yourself. Watch some videos on like milers finishing the mile. Watch and time from 1600 to the 9 meters to the mile. Saw one with Puskedra and company took them 1.48 from 1600 to full mile.
