First of all, I'd like to know where these engineers are making 300K+? If they are making this kind of money they are probably managing engineers rather than actually doing any engineering. Engineers are far underpaid for the profession and how valuable our assets are to a technological company. I can say I work in the oil industry as a real engineer, not a fake guy with the title who actually just manages, and I started @ 70k. I find it hard to believe there are many industries with better pay than this. It pisses me off when I hear our company business people complain about hiring another engineer. To be honest if there was no engineers, the company would probably last a year, maybe? We could run our company without the business folks, it just probably wouldn't be as smooth but I gaurentee the engineers paychecks would be higher because we'd only have to pay our engineers and technicians.
Good for the Chipolte worker. Yes she worked very hard and yes she may deserve it. However if she were to leave to another company I'd bet here pay is halfed at best. And with her experience, this girl is a diamond in the rough when it comes to others pay with her kind of experience.
