REGIONALS
First-Round Frenzy
As the NCAA Basketball Championship has the color and surprises of its first round, NCAA Cross Country has that and more on Friday.
At nine venues across the nation — including local teams at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Wis., and at Penn State's golf course in State College — slots for the NCAA Championship will be determined on course.
The top two teams at each regional will earn an automatic berth to the Championship, slated for Nov. 17 at the Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. Thirteen other teams (each gender) will receive 'at-large' spots to the national championship.
Additionally, the top four runners from each region who are not on a team that qualified for nationals will run for the individual title in Louisville as well.
