Macrodosing is back baby!
He should care about this race... this was the most sub 12:50's in history in one race. I'm not saying Rupp has a 0% chance of medalling, but I just don't see him being able to churn off a sub 55 off of a pace this fast (doubtful the pace will be this fast, but it'll be a sub 2:28 last k I can guarantee). Rupp has done so well? He hasn't gotten a single international medal yet, nor has he ever placed first in a Diamond League meet. He's got a chance, but I think you're giving him far too much credit. Mo's got a better chance, and these guys ran 7 seconds faster than his PR.
How many guys went sub-55 today? One?

God, I hope not.
Running top 10 AT will take some sting out of your kick.
That progression is pretty crazy, but I don't think it's entirely accurate. Does anyone have any 2011 5k times for Hagos besides that one? I know the guy ran some xc races back around then and did good.
Bekele will win in London. He's still a little out of shape but he'll be ready in August and he's too much of a competitor. If there is anyone in an Olympic final that knows how to win it's Bekele.
If anything this shows that Rupp, Lagat, and Lomong won't medal.
What I'm saying is he shouldn't be worried, and yes he hasn't medalled but you cant say 7th and 9th place in the world 5 and 10k isn't impressive. He finished 3rd in a fast 10k, beating some sub 27 minute guys in the process. He did finish 2nd in a Diamond League meeting. He puts himself in with the very best. My point is his progression speaks for itself. Just because some one hasn't won a medal doesn't mean they aren't doing well.

I think the first time he left Ethiopia was for World Youths in July last year.
hagos ran 27:59 road 10k last year and 7:45 3k on the track. So, he was obviously much better than 14 caliber last year. But this is still a monster improvement, whatever age he is (not 18, maybe 21). There's been good pacing before but no willingness or ability to follow the pacers. Why now after so many years of 12:50 plus? It may be an Olympic year but six sub 12:50 in one race? The juice is back. And the two 3:56's in the women's 1500m from proven dopers?? But it is obviously a shame that Rupp, Lagat, and other Americans weren't in this race to possibly smash the American record. Will there be another this year as fast as this? Not sure.

Conditions were about perfect for distance running, pacemakers did a reasonably good job and this was the last qualification race for about a dozen of the best 5000m runners in the world. This race basically had everyone that's worth talking about except for Farah and the Americans.

It's hard to win when you don't make the team.
I heard the track is short

That was actually the NB Grand Prix in Boston.
Galen is a lock for gold. Mark my word.

Except that he just did like a week ago?
Rupp is easily a second and a half faster than 12:46, he would have left them in the dust the final 100.
Olympic 5k results:
1. Farah
2. Lagat
3. Rupp
Olympic 10k results:
1. Farah
2. Rupp
3. Bekele
Heard it here first. This Paris result doesn't even make any sense, something weird was going on, whatever it was (drug cycle, perfect conditions, both). Rupp beat most of these guys at Pre, he'll do it again when it counts. He just has to follow his boy/mentor, who is the man and whom these guys -- any and all of these clowns from this Paris race -- never beat.

I almost took this post seriously.
