As a big time D1 coach, I am impressed that German finished second after losing a shoe and then getting knocked down.

German just ran 23:48 for second place behind a teammate. He's back.

It wasn't even his spike that he lost, he had forgotten them and had to wear flats.
Seriously what is up with this guy and his shoe issues? I think he is beyond talented but does he need a handler or something, this has to be his 10th shoe issue in races alone. On a brighter note I am so happy to see he is back in the saddle and running strong.
How is it that any runner ever forgets their spikes? It's not like there's a whole lot you need to remember before a race. Uniform. Shoes. And if you don't have your uniform, you can use someone else's. So, just shoes.
Smith knows that GF has issues remembering his spikes (see Footlocker), so brought a spare pair when GF forgot them this time. Unfortunately they were a little too snug and it looks like GF will lose three toenails and maybe his second toe on his left foot.
He is apparently to undergo hyperbaric therapy for the toes, so the nails might be saved.

They were too snug but he didn't have any injuries because his shoe didn't fall off, he kicked both shoes off about 1k into the race and finished it in just socks

Seriously, do Colby Lowe and German Fernandez look alike?

You'all are going to feel real stupid when they beat adams and western at the Jamborre
They were pretty close today to those CO harriers.
Their #2 would actually have a legit chance to be on Adam's "varsity"
Their #3 on the other hand...

Of course, they are trolling. Who throws a shoe at the start of the race? German just ran 23:48 for second place behind a teammate. He's back.
Actually I was just lying. Pretty crazy the time and place I posted were Colby Lowe's. That was just coincidence.
Don't care what anyone says, this just shows that GF has settled into being a decent college runner. Colby Lowe will hand him his ass all year. Dave Smith has ruined this guy.
He was better than this as a freshman. Get him to AlSal immediately.

Who's c*ck you gotta suck to get some results around here?
Whose c*ck.
You're welcome.
That RT article said German took off 2 months before cross country and was doing pretty relaxed training all summer. I predict he'll be better than last year's form by the end of the season.
I hope he's not "looking relaxed", that was the beginning of The End for Webb
woohoo OSU's #5 man was not there today.
