Yeah, he looked a lot like Raamzi.

Announcer says 3:34.69 for Centro!
Centro 3:34!!! Go USA
3 yanks go under 3.35
Centro 3:34.68 Manzano, and Wheating are in
Centro got it
Centro 3:34.69 according to cram there
I'm watching the British stream and they clarified both Centro, Manzano, and Wheating's successful qualifications. GREAT announcing
but Wheating ran an ugly race, he was in that whole pack of ugliness in the back, and he was in lane 2 most of the way, then squeezed himself into the inside on the last turn.

NBC, ESPN watch this broadcast over and over again.
splits:
300 - 40
400 - 54.71
700 - 1:38
800 - 1:53.56
1100- 2:37
1200- 2:51.98
I am happy for them that they all got the qualifier and I imagine that was goal number one and may have determined how they raced a bit but they need to get out faster and get positioning better in a race with a field like this. Lagat ran a smart race by positioning and was able run what he did because of that. I honestly believe that those others can run with Lagat but it is in their positioning that makes the difference.
Great, smart run by the Americans. Ran for the standard, all got under, and now the pressure is off. Time to chase some PR's and try to win races in the next few weeks. Hopefully a little confidence boost for Wheating. He and Centro both look like they need some more experience in these races. Manzano rounding into form. Lagat, well, he's still Bernard Lagat: one of the all-time greats and running like it.
Lagat was up front the whole race and got third.

Bitch please. Laalou is the Moroccan record holder in the 800 and ran 3:29 in the 15 last year. Nothing like Ramzi.

It's like the old joke: "what do you call the person who graduates last in their class at medical school?" Doctor.
What do you call Wheating's ugly race? (and it was by no means pretty?) The A standard.

MY GOD, YOU PEOPLE ARE CHEERING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO ARE 15 METERS BEHIND THE WINNERS. AMERICANS ALL RUN LIKE PUSSIES. THEY NEVER PUT THEMSELVES IN THE RACE, CUZ THEY EITHER SUCK OR ARE SCARED.
settle down troll. the point of the race was to get the A-standard. mission accomplished.
1500s are always crazy, everyone in a pack, everyone running so fast. Spills out into the outer lanes in a way you never see any other event do, regardless of pace.
Wheating (and Centro) ran to survive, and qualify. The announcers (and some posters) rightly criticized the size of the field. Wheating and Centro ran smart under the circumstances - there was no upside for either of them to push around at the front. I was glad to see them both run under control and avoid the runner who stumbled late in the race. Now they have the rest of the summer to sharpen their racing skills, and not spend time chasing the qualifier.
Well done to Manzano, too. Nice to see that with his additional experience he handled the large field very well.
I love getting the American results first, but by now I am needing the full deal to put it in perspective. Congrats to Matthew on the A standard, BTW.
