Dude, you need to move on with your life. Wishing your ex misery is pretty pathetic. Using your kids as a tool to stop the wedding is even more pathetic.

Please explain how upstate NY is about where NY meets NJ when NJ is due south of NY.
Thanks.
Because to New Yorkers, anything north of the Bronx is "Upstate." It doesn't necessarily make sense, but that's how it is.

So I have two kids with a woman that I have been separated from for about a year. We have been talking a little lately but no real progress. After work last night, I was in ShopRite when I get a random text from her saying that she will be getting married in Atlantic City this weekend to a piece of redneck white trash she just met.
I live in upstate NY about where NY/NJ/PA meet up so Atlantic City is a decent trip.
One idea I have is to just refuse to watch the kids this weekend. She wants to drop them off on Friday and leave them with me until maybe Tuesday. We really dont follow our joint custody agreement but technically the kids are her responsibility from 12pm Saturdays to about 5pm Wednesdays. She has no family of her own here to babysit. So if I just disappear and she cant leave the kids with me, she would be forced to cancel the trip or to take the kids with her which should severely compromise the weekend on her.
So, could something like this be brought up in family court? I have a really good track record when it comes to watching the kids more than I'm required to, especially when she dumps them off when she wants to go out.
Any other ideas from the letsrun faithful?
I'm still trying to figure out why a woman would marry a guys she describes as "a piece of redneck white trash." Weird. Maybe you should tell the guy what she said about him.

This is true for people who live in NYC, but decidedly untrue of everyone else.
Albany to Syracuse and north is upstate. West of Syracuse is Western NY. Nobody refers to Westchester as "upstate". The whole state isn't "upstate".
These distinctions matter, because the original poster is a liar.
everywhere outside the bounds of new york city is upstate, ya damn idjit!
If your kid came to and asked you this same question. What would you advise them to do?
Let her go and focus on being a man.
The southern tier is definitely upstate. If you run out of gas in Liberty, NY, you're likely to end up in some hillbilly's stewpot. It ain't Park Avenue.

manbearpig wrote:it is 100% about the kids. i've tried to reason with the mother that in a year when the oldest starts school the custody is going to shift to me b/c she has no desire to move back into the school district. I love my kids and want to see them everyday and be their father. I have offered to do whatever it takes and the mother just doesnt care. She has bounced around with several boyfriends in the past year, including a guy that dumped her on valentines day when she asked to move in with him. All I want is to put my family back together.
correction....this was my last real post. from what I read quickly from today's posts....
We were never married. We were together 5+ years and have two kids (boy almost 4 and a girl almost 2). We have joint custody and I pay no child support. I live in Liberty but will be moving back into the Sullivan West school district by fall 2012. She lives in the Fallsburg school district. I should win a custody case b/c the kids were born in Sullivan West school district and all the family is there. She has no family here and no reason to put the kids in Fallsburg over Sullivan West.
This morning she text me saying that she isnt really getting married but that she thought I would leave her alone if I thought she was getting married.
There is definitely a new guy. I saw him on Saturday sitting on the patio when I picked the kids up. I asked my son if his mom has a new ring and he said yes but its hard to believe a 3+ year old all the time.
I have tried to reason with her about the value of a family but she just doesnt care. I even offered a pre-nup where she can put in her own specific clauses.
We broke up in January of 2010. She accused me of messing around with a co-worker. Two days later I found out that she had put us in a major financial hole. She had only paid rent 3 times in the previous seven months and had about another $3000 in unpaid bills (electric, phone, car, insurance, etc). We mailed our rent checks directly to our landlord's bank b/c she works outside the country. So she didnt keep up with that account until we were way behind. I knew nothing of the bills or lack of rent. All she ever said was "money is a little tight".
So there's a little background for you people to tear me apart on.
Wow, this just confirms why you should stay away from this woman. Sounds like an 18 year old. Doesn't care about the kids, makes terrible financial decisions, doesn't take responsibility of her actions, the list goes on. Dude, you need to listen to the people on this board. Move on and don't try to intervene with her life and the decisions she makes. Just give her space. You're both adults let her do what she wants as long as the kids aren't being harmed. I would also agree that seeking full custody is probably a good idea.

Not saying it isn't full of rednecks and white trash, it's just not upstate, unless you live in NYC. A distinction I made.
Need to stop a wedding? Hire "Ramon"
For the second straight day I come from work and you tards are still arguing about where upstate New York is.
For those of you who think I should just move on, I still believe that she is a good person and I believe in having a family
Having a family is a good thing, but if your ex-wife is thinking of marriage, it means the point your relation after divorce has gone to, is a point of no return. Also if you really think family is the best thing, then you shouldn't have divorced her in the first place.
A divorce, means go ahead with your life!
Kids are the only link the two of you have. As long as you all stick to the end of your deals as far as taking care of kids is concerned, then that's great for the kids.
Another perspective to all this, your ex-wife's new hubby can't marry her if he doesn't like your kids, so this will just shower more love to the kids rather than you looking at it negatively. In addition, this might reduce your baby sitting time, and you can, move on with your life as well.

First, I haven't seen that movie in about 15 years. Time to revisit it.
Second, I was born in 1979 but Katherine Ross was probably one of the most stunning women of the century in her prime. T
1) We werent married
2) I dont want some other guy around my kids, especially this piece of trash.
3) I dont want my babysitting time reduced.
Do people just not care at all about families anymore????

It would be nice if you would stop talking about where upstate New York is. Thanks.

Listen. I don't know how many times we have to go over this, but upstate New York is anything outside the five boroughs.
