Here's how I view this whole global climate change crap. We need to conserve our resources or else we'll consume ourselves out of a planet. This means using less fossil fuels now so that we will have access to them later. It's a cheap, easy fuel source, but we're exploiting it faster than it could ever be renewed. A lot of bright and influential people understand this, but trying to tell the common people to use less is not going to work. We want ours, and we want it now. The economy of the USA and most of the world depends on cheap fuel, so we're not about to give it up. The lobbyists for the oil industry have done a great job at pressuring our governments not to press the issue, plus, any politician limiting the use of fossil fuels is going to have a short career. So, the people who understand peak oil, sustainability and our need to wean ourselves off cheap oil needed something else to argue. This is where global warming and all this BS came in. It's just a scare tactic to help promote conservation. If you understand the concept of peak oil you'll understand the need for conservation. Global warming (now global climate change) is a huge waste of time and effort on the part of our government and our citizens, when in reality, they should just find a way of making the ignorant people understand that we're running out of cheap oil.
