I was told by K that if Sell ran a 150 mile week, he

I would like to know if that is true, and whether the other
guys could handle a similar week
I once watched 8 of them run 8 times 800 in 2:15 with a 1
minute recovery ( indoors ). Briney ran the workout.
The workout you cite is nothing. Try 3x3 miles at 4:50 pace with 4x400 in 64 in between each 3-miler, with 30 seconds rest between the 400s, and a jog "rest" between the end of the 3-miler and the track(about 200 meters). This type of workout gets down twice a week, in addition to the long run, and steady mileage ranging from 120-160 miles per week, for EVERYONE.
Each one of these guys work, work, and continue to just plain old work. Every runner that is or was a Hanson's sponsored athlete was and is "blue-collar" tough. Some have been able to translate that to 2:10, others 2:14-2:16. Others took that same work ethic and applied it to the "real world."
The Hanson's program has been great not only for the development of U.S. distance running, but also for the personal development of many young men and women. It's not always appreciated, even among the athletes themselves, but this is the truth.
Peace.
