Dear "Some Coach": You will never be a successful D-1 head coach. Never.
Being a good leader means making the tough decisions for the good of the program. This thing happens in football and basketball all the time. Nobody expects the new football or basketball coach of a major program to retain the leftover assistants, no matter how good or respected they might have been. Track is a sport of weenies who have no stomach for tough (and necessary) decisions. I bet you won't find one successful D-1 head coach who has a problem with Buchnam's decision.
That analogy is complete crap. When a guy takes a DI football or baskets job he brings with him a "system", and needs to have a staff who knows that system and can implement that system. That's why you rarely see a football coach not bring his whole staff with him; basketball is a little different, the game adapts better but you will still see key guys staying with the head.
You should know that track is completely different. No program system, just event guys who know what they're doing. And Booth is the flat out, best collegiate LJ/TJ coach in history. And you let him go .... I don't care how you cut it, this is not going to turn out to be the best possible decision for Arkansas track.
And thanks for your analysis of my chances for future successes ... I'll take it under advisement.
