The baseball team at my school is "the" crowd to be in if, you know, you're a senior and therefore God's gift to 14-year-old freshman girls. Anyway, they claim to run 3 times around our campus for a total of 9 miles each day before practice in baseball cleats, pants, etc. I don't doubt the garb, as I've seen them doing it before, but the 9 miles? One day I might explain to them that I usually don't average much under 8min pace for my training runs, and I have run around the campus for a cooldown in 7-8 minutes dog-tired after hard workouts.
Another good one: I knew this, to put it nicely, horizontally gifted girl who played soccer (claimed she was pretty good at it). She was going to an all-star soccer camp down south for the week during the summer and told me that, just to qualify, all of the girls had to be able to break 6 minutes in the mile, and by the end of the week they were supposed to be under 5. For some reason she didn't see how impossible that was; after all, just because I was running 60 miles a week at that time and still have yet to break 5 shouldn't mean that she can't.
As a side note, this is a great thread.
