agreed I just find it premature as it was said to crown Hall the prince of American distance running. especially when he got beaten by riz when it matter the most.

Ritz will always beat Hall when it matters most. That is the way Ritz rolls! Wetmore told him that you can always count on Ritz to produce something special and shock you. (something along those lines I can't remember the exact thing he said?)
I predict a 5th place finish next saturday!!

I'd take Olympic Trials champion and 11th at the Olympics over Olympic Trials runner-up and 10th. Considering that, I'd say that Hall beat Ritz when it mattered, not the over way around. And, yes, under Wetmore, you could count of Ritz to produce something special and shock you. Then came the lost half decade. But under Salazar, watch out.

Yes, my bad.. And why does everyone think Hall got 11th and Ritz got 10th at Olympics??
Who beat who wrote:

So you're basically saying that the Olympic Trials matter more than the Olympics?
right now, Ritz is much better than Hall at 3k to 10k and Hall is much better than Ritz at 1/2 Marathon and Marathon. If Ritz breaks Hall's American record at the half, then just the marathon will be left for Hall and the international and national performances will be on Ritz's side,, sixth World's at ten k, ninth at Olympic marathon, third at world junior xc, two footlocker xc titles, at least one hs track title, national collegiate xc title, vs. tenth at Olympic marathon, second at ncaa xc, some national senior titles.
This thread obviously needs a huge bump:
Well...after a much hyped NYC "re-debut" for Ritz, he finishes in a lower place than Hall at a slower time.
Guess Hall wasn't as bad as everybody thought. And I'm sure every poster thinking Hall should switch to Salazar is hiding right now. He has no incentive to do that.
So the question returns: who is the better runner, Ritz or Hall? Who is the better marathoner? And separate question, who is the greatest current American marathoner, Ritz, Hall, or Meb?
It's hard to believe even last year's Meb would have beaten a field like this so that takes a little bit away from "winning a major marathon" and adds more to how fast your time is (another example is how Hall's time this year in Boston was faster than last years winning time) so Hall still has the much faster times at the half marathon and marathon if that changes anything.
