So did Robin Williams, who ran 1:58.8 for the 880 while at Redwood High School in Larkspur CA (which no longer has a track team). He was also on the schools mile relay team (3:21.7) so he had some wheels.
Actually Redwood HS does indeed have a track team...and quite a good one at that...just last year they installed a fabulous new all weather track...their program is a perennial powerhouse in marin County and has turned athletes like Rod berry (a sub 9 minute 2 miler who went on to run well at Stanford, Hal Shultz and most recently Jake schmitt (ran on USA junior team in China last summer...10,000 meters)...this past spring graduated Steve Sodaro who was convereted from redwood HS to track and is now a standout freshman at Cal.
As for Robin Williams, I don't think he runs anymore (but did race the very tough Dipsea a few years back)...I DO however seem him fairly frequently on a bike...almost (accidentally) ran him over on a tough climb out of Sausalto a few months back...that might have challenged my insurance company a bit, no?
RE: Dana Carvey, he and his brothers both ran track and cross country down in San Mateo...dana no longer runs as he has had heart problems 9and a botched heart surgery...oooops!) but I did see him sit in and play a mean set of drums with the famous Aggie running Club's band, Mr Green and the Men from Modesto...the same band that Marty Liquori played guitar with at last Oly trials
Alright now, let's all get back to work.
