Hoarse:
I will eventually put the training all together as well as Seko's (I promised it for a couple of coaches I know). Send me an e-mail later and remind me. I'll send that to you as well....just to make you a happy person! ;o)
Interesting thing about Ma's Army's diet; Hamada didn't mention anything about carbohydrate except for "they consume plenty of carb". Well, I would assume it's rice since we, Orientals, eat rice for our main part of the meal (;o)). Naturally, if it's so natural, we don't really pay much attention; so, yes, I would assume it's rice. I would be actually interested to see if it's brown rice or white rice...
They get up at 4:30 (just like Rocky), training begins at 5:00, and they turn off lights (wouldn't necessarily say "go to bed") at 9:30PM. One more interesting this is that, when they run on the indoor track (in general 20km, 100 laps), they would go 50 laps one way and 50 laps the other direction.
I should also add here that, once again, like coach Hamada observed, the girls there smile and laugh a lot. He observed that, during a period of 5 days in a row when coach Ma was not there, some girls "cheated" the workout but none of them "cheated" the entire workout; only a portion of the whole workout. He says, "they are all young girls. They might cheat here and there and giggle. If they were forced to live such a Spartan life, they would be more opt to "cheat" entirely if the dictator is away but that didn't happen (I'm summarizing it here)."
Another thing that's worth mentioning is that they do quite a bit of plyometric exercises, skipping and other drills. Hamada observed that, when they get hurt, they bounce back very quickly. He thinks possibly a contributing factor for that is sll those "strengthening" exercises.
Thanks for your offer of those Norwegean's training (that's right, Skah is married to a beautiful "tall" Nowegean lady). I know Ingrid and Grete (particularly Ingrid; we are asking her to be on our advisory staff board for Lydiard Foundation); but I'd be very interested in Rodahl and Skah's training. Thanks!
