This was Mo Farah race. Boring.

Jakob should have run the 10k and 5k
He wins the 10k just as easily.
He will break be the first man under 12:30 for 5k
If true he would have run the 10k. He is not ready yet.

So easy, so in control. Wow Jakob
He'll never get an easier Olympic Gold.
Ingen gjør det bedre.
After Fisher doubles back for bronze, sure seems like Cheptegei could have medaled again as well...
The first half of the race I thought his heart wasn't in it, and he was just going through the motions. Then, man, when he moved there was just no staying close to him.
And Fisher with that kick???
Jacob killed two birds with one stone here….kept Kerr from Gold in the 1500, knowing he wasn’t at his best given the tricky last year, also confident he had gold locked down in the 5k.
Genius! And another slap in the face of Kerr.

If he was unbeatable he'd own the world record or even be close to breaking it. There was no real competition for him. Y'all fanboys are ridiculous. When he owns the world record then he'll be considered unbeatable. Jogging all but the final 800 meters isn't impressive at all. Let's see him go 12:35 or faster if he's so good.
I mean the dude has run 7:54.1 for the 2 mile, and if he hadn't slowed down at the end, it would've been 7:53.x. With shoes and lights and good health, it's really just a matter of when, not if.

Yeah, cementing yourself as a loser in championship 1500s sure showed everyone who is boss!

Yeah he could've for sure, but it also could've been a repeat of Eugene where he stunk it up and was way out of the medals. I find it a bit weird that he straight up doesn't care about the 5 anymore, but guess we have the marathon to look forward to for him.

Something that really stood out to me was how relaxed and composed he looked on the start line, compared to the 1500m where it was obvious how on edge and nervous he was. That was a truly dominant run by him even with questionable tactics over the last two laps, specifically when Hagos took off with 600m to go and he was badly boxed by the Kenyans but somehow found a way out. He didn’t even look like he was struggling at all even though he closed in 26 mid for the last 200m
Well said. While Gebriwhet was tying up trying to maintain his form Jakob looked like he had at least 2 more gears left to go to, but no need at all while still pulling 10m ahead. Class apart.
I only wish "World Champ Hocker" was in this race so we could see what a sharp JI can do against him. Spoiler alert: JI would not lose.
In fairness to Hagos, he tried to take it on with one lap left.
He just didn't have the legs he had in his fast race this year.
That's the reality of aging;
Hagos runs his best 1 race in 5, Jakob runs his best 4 races in 5.

Why the “World Champ”? Did he or did he not beat Jakob in the 1500m? Either way, I’m not sure what Cole Hocker has to do with an Olympic 5k he wasn’t even running. Let’s give Jakob his flowers for his redemption arc, making an Olympic gold look near effortless today

This was definitely Jakob's race to win. They should never had let the pace be that slow.
they already accepted that jakob was going to win. they just pretended that jakob wasn't there and then raced against everyone else.

Jakob is more than so good. Question is how you can't see that? :)
Jakob is a star. Well done with another olympic gold

That's the reality of aging, but that's the reality of greatness too. Jakob is The class for everybody in present middle distance running on his way to be the GOAT.
I see descriptions of Jakob here. Masterclass, so relaxed, a class of his own, just won easy and didn't even look tired, and many other positive and praising descriptions. If this was a Kenyan or Ethiopian, I bet descriptions would be nothing but "he is suspicious," "he is doped to the gills" and many more accusations about how the athlete(s) is not clean. Letsrun is definitely a 🎪 of nothing but hate speech!
Weird coverage of the 5000 on Peacock. Yes, there was a lot going on today in T&F but they cut away from the 5000 so quick after the finish. I don't think they even mentioned Fisher and maybe didn't even show the results.
It would be nice if they had one feed for Track and another for Field.
Sedjati under investigation. L'Equippe says searches were conducted by police in Olympic Village.
USA 400m Trials winner Kendal Ellis pulled from women's 4x400m only minutes before the race.
MASTERCLASS. Jakob Ingebrigtsen BOSSES the 5000 field. Fisher bronze.
