I did not think Bol could beat Sydney, but I have NEVER seen her fade in the straight like that. Her time was very slow for her. Not sure if she went out too hard, if the relay took too much from her, or maybe she has COVID too.
Bol chocked, ran 2 seconds slower than her best. The pressure crushed her! I actually love Bol because she is a gamer and races, Sidney, Kerr, Mu, these great athletes rarely race , yeah the championships, but it's hard to grow a sport when you see the stars like two or three times year! But congrats to Sidney, she rocks!
Well said. McGlaughlin was a freak show way before Kersee ever coached her.And while I think she should race more, it matters not an F what I think. She is outrageous, comes from a family of a 45.03 Dad back in 1990's for Seton Hall, and has a brother who ran 48.38 . She was always gonna be this good. It's amazing to me that an American who is dominant like this gets the usual drup cheat thing, yet Bolt whose marks are so far out there no one scrapes them, gets what? He was 6'5..stride length and frequency..was the call on that and correctly.
Bol was not going to win this match up. I do think Bol may have underestimated what that mixed 4x4 leg would take out of her. The Dutch probably thought that was their best chance at gold, in effect conceding a head of time that they were not going to touch Syd.
Lol at the ones making excuses for Fenkeboy. She wasn't conveniently sick for the final... She just loves to choke under pressure. Sydney DESTROYED her.
That was unexpected. Not that Sydney won and set the WR again but that Bol looked nothing like the runner who anchored the Netherlands 🇳🇱 4x400 mixed relay squad.
Rounds are hard, running multiple ev,ents is hard, etc.
Bol's time would have been the WR until the second of Dalilah Muhammad's two WRs in 2019
SML is the greatest to ever do it by an unreal margin, now I want to see her go full Sifan Hassan and do an unreal quadruple or something (400, 400H, mixed relay, women's 4x4)
Sydney was very impressive in victory. No chinks in her armour. Bol looked very nervous and just didn't have it on the day - bronze and gold from the Olympic games is far from failure.
I mean no but I guess the question always remains is there some reason she does the 400H over 400? She just isn’t as good at it, and it’s felt that way for a while.
Same reason Ingebritsen keeps doing the 1500. It's where the biggest challenge is.
Bol showed some emotional vulnerability when she got passed and then fell in the 4x4. Was it the last Olympics? Today, she looked like a reluctant racer who knew she was over her head by the 250 mark and was emotionally rung out when she really needed to be gritty, down the last straightaway. Anna Cockeral, comparatively speaking, was as impressive a Sydney.
