Why do you get so wound up about this? It's a dramatization. Movie showing, "Jesus" have him and all the other people living in The Levant at the time as being Caucasian. Does that also bother you?
Many ancient pictures depict him as a white man with dark hair.
Lol
Jesus definitely wasn't white you clowns.
The pictures of Jesus were hundreds of years after his death. There are pictures of Jesus also with dark skin as well. The people during his day had brown olive skin in the 1st century.
How come they never do remakes the other way? Is that not "hip and trendy"? Not "groundbreaking"? Seriously they should do an biopic of MLK and cast King as a skinny white nerd. Maybe they can get reviewbrah to play the part. Or do a movie about Malcom X starring a chinese actor with a super thick accent. Why isn't that "groundbreaking"?

Before Arab / Islamic colonization the Middle Easteners would look like Greeks or other Mediterraneans
I'm sure Jesus was a white guy with sandy blonde hair.
Or is that different?
Jesus is never portrayed as a blonde person in media.
Lame straw man.
Wrong. Jesus Christ was not a fictitious character. He was a black man who dwelled in the middle east circa 5 BC to 30 CE. So if a non-POC wants to portray him in a documentary, they do so risking their credibility.
I am very outraged that someone dared to change the ethnicity of characters from anime series! This is an unpardonable crime! Can you imagine the anguish this must cause in all the other cartoon characters?
Rather than insulting your intelligence, it's hoping that you are intelligent enough to look past the color of the actors skin and enjoy the storytelling.
You're willing to accept some historical inaccuracy but don't seem to have a definite limit. That's simply your taste and that's fine.
I honestly can't believe anyone is libtarded enough to defend this.
You guys are really revealing just how much propaganda and newspeak you'll go along with, and it's not a good look.
I'll leave it at that.
Even though the entertainment industry has long been compromised by true believers in the ideology that demands "representation," "inclusion," and so forth even when it isn't asked for, I suspect the actual motivation behind moves like this is to generate the unpaid marketing provided by other true believers and people who oppose that ideology, who can be counted on like clockwork to sprint over to social media to oppose or support it and argue with the other side. Would anyone even know about some random Anglo-Saxon drama that is in production? Most people would not, but by making ideologically-approved casting decisions they've generated publicity. Most likely this will end up like most pieces of entertainment, which is to say, forgotten as soon as its run is over.
"Carey Mulligan’s role in Drive was originally written as a Latina woman in James Sallis’ novel. Mulligan was cast after she met director Nicolas Winding Refn, who felt strongly she was the perfect actress for the part."
This is actually really hilarious. Neo-Marxists are always defending race swapping white characters by casting nonwhite actors with variations on "they just picked the best actor/actress for the role!" Well...

You mean like OP getting worked up about the racial makeup of Wakanda?
Diversity is fine. But so is an accurate depiction of historical realities. Would it be right, or appropriate,to include "whites" in a documentay about an African culture or region from 1066AD or what ever the time period being referenced is? Probably not.
