This is the first time Kipyegon will double at Olympic level and the first time the 5000 is first. Last year in Budapest the 1500 was first. There will likely be several rested challengers in the Paris 1500, like Welteji and Haylom and Hailu.
St. Pierre can either join that rested group or try to squeeze a medal out of a 5000 that includes Kipyegon, Tsegay, Chebet and perhaps Hassan.
