I think this is half true and half a clever way to hitch his star to hers. He is far more accomplished, the most of any American right now, but she's more famous.
For one, she had a bit of the outlaw spirit in her and didn't follow certain rules. Not following those rules made her something or hero to people who know absolutely nothing about track and field. She even styled herself after Flo-Jo, while pissing away her God-given talent.
Then, she apparently had a "come to Jesus" moment. Her style is modest...she put down the bong...and she's back and competitive.
She showed humility and class, two things that get her no respect on social media, but that matter enormously in competition.
This is problematic language. Being at Hayward for the past trials, Worlds, and last night, the increase in support is noticeable. Why is a good question. She’s American and she’s fast and with the main Jamaican competition aging out, she will dominate for years to come. One thing Americans are is front runners, they live a winner. I do not like her based on her pathetic angry at the world attitude. I have not liked or believed her Jerry Springer antics. She had settled down recently and most can label it maturing, however, being allowed to avoid the mix zone does show her capriciousness and the capitulation by USATF to its volatile stars. All being said, when she slammed the wig before the finals at the last Worlds at Hayward was one of the most bonkers moments I have ever witnessed live, and I thank her for that.
