Replying to a post is so difficult I don't even bother on my phone anymore. I have the newest google pixel (8 Pro).
On my laptop now and I keep getting pop up ads that cover the entire screen.
It's tough to type out a comment, especially a long one, on this site from a phone. But all my discussion forums that I'm on, I post comments from my Galaxy (I'm 63 & do everything on my phone - don't even own a laptop.🤣).
Curious, these guys that post these really long comments (e.g. rekrunner) - are they posting from their computers?
+1
I guess they use a computer, type a long reply, copy and paste.
They need to re-work the site and optimize it for mobile. If not, LRC isn't going to be around much longer or will limp along with a core clientele of senior citizens still using PCs to view it.
Yeah, because I'd rather browse the site on an IPhone15 that has 16 sq. in. of viewable area versus a Dell 30" monitor that has 400 sq. in. of viewable area.
This site uses an incredible amount of available computer memory just to load. I assume it has something to do with the ads. Right now (Chromebook), several tabs open:
Gmail: 120mb
Instagram: 124mb
Facebook: 243mb
Letsrun: 546mb
FWIW, I am using adblock. Why does a discussion form require so much memory?
Some days are better than others. What I find frustrating is also the lag for the forum on laptop. I kinda get the stalling for a phone with all of the pop up ads bogging things down but I’ve never had issues with a site on the laptop like I do with LRC.
Agreed! It’s pretty much unusable on a phone. Constant refreshing. Battery power goes down significantly anytime I’m on it. If I’m at 20%, no joke, my phone would be out of battery power in about 10 minutes. Constantly freezing. Not sure what the solution is but it’s a struggle to look at anything on the message board on mobile.
I was at The Sevens in Beacon Hill today after breaking 36 at the Boston 10K and some guy was choking on a pretzel bite and I was trying to google the Heimlich maneuver but I had my phone open to letsrun from the last time I used it (was reading a fauci thread in the bathroom) and it drained my battery and I couldn’t figure out the heimlich and the guy died
