American based Kenyan(possibly)making a distance team for Kenya is rare. Congrats if Kurgat is selected. Hopefully he is
You'll be happy to know Edwin Kurgat has just been named to the team
He certainly earned it. Raced like he belonged at both 5 and 10K. Kimaiyo might be the future at 5k though. He really went for it today and got 6th. Good to see Kwemoi persevering and making a team after all these years.

Also mens 3K ST very much to form, but the younger Serem being so close at that age and Leonard Bett hanging on as long as he did soon after big injury should make for some nice depth.
Just finished catching up on the day's action. Faith running 3:53 was huge but Wanyonyi's race was simply incredible. And how about Koitatoi Kidali!? This guy improved from 1:45 to 1:42, like Rudisha and Kinyamal he's Masai, 21 years old. Would like to know more about him
Men's 5000 was good too in the end Kwemoi impressed, I don't think he's necessarily a 12:45 guy but has a lot of speed in a slower race.
Men's steeple went to form book, nice to see Ezekiel Kemboi congratulating everyone after.
Looks like top 3 were picked in every event where eligible and now wait to see if Sarah Moraa (800), Kyumbe Munguti (1500), Margaret Kipkemboi (5000) and Julius Yego (javelin) qualify

Kipkemboi is top-ranked in the quota, and safely in if they allow that pathway. Otherwise they pick Nyaga or Jebitok I guess? Munguti is in a more dangerous spot, but he could squeak in narrowly. Running under the time in Finland would be huge as the numbers of athletes with the standards continues to rise. Id like him to get in, but can’t deny that I wouldn’t mind seeing Komen getting the spot. The steeple was kinda funny. A la Mary Moraa and Sarah it looked to me like Koech and Amos Serem were both looking to help their sibling/close friend get on the squad. Koech kept looking back presumably hoping Leonard Bett was still in position. Amos obviously hoping Edmond could come through. Unfortunately for them, Kibiwot even in heavy training it seems had enough. Think both the younger Serem and Bett are both going to hit some nice times soon.

Yeah Kibiwott now is one of the most consistent global team makers for Kenyan men
I make it assuming they compete in Paris:
Tim Cheruiyot - 6 straight
Abraham Kibiwott, Nicholas Kimeli - 5 straight
Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Jacob Krop - 3 straight
These team aren't easy to make. Kipchoge made 7 straight and Ezekiel Kemboi 12 which is quite something. And Faith Kipyegon is at 10 now

Good observations as always. Looking at full results, it’s definitely an encouraging outing from Kimaiyo (13:29) and even Kipkirui (13:34) back from injury. Would hope these guys can get a lane in a DL 5K. Kipkirui could also theoretically take on Mehary at World Juniors, though both have pretty much graduated to the senior ranks. As far as the other unknown quantities, we’ll need to see Kidali in Monaco/Paris. Would like to see Munguti get a lane in Monaco/London. And certainly Odira who has Malcolm Anderson as an agent would hopefully be there in London.
This meet too was a big win for Patrick Sang looks like on the team he has Wycliffe Kinyamal, Faith Kipyegon, Amos Serem, Faith Cherotich (I think same group?) Jackline Chepkoech, Ronald Kwemoi, Nicholas Kimeli, Daniel Mateiko, Eliud Kipchoge. And Sang is one of the official marathon team coaches as you would expect

Yes him and Berardelli had outstanding Trials. Berardelli gets Wanyonyi, Kipkemboi Chelimo (x2), Benson Kipruto, Chepchirchir. Also props to Steven Haas getting two Flagstaff-based Kenyans in Kurgat and Ejore with Lokedi as an alternate.
Other thought: I think Tim let Reynold win. Reynold did that for Tim last year and I think they are good friends with Tim as mentor. Tim was looking around and not kicking frantically like he did in Stockholm. I think he saved a gear with bigger fish to fry as well as repaying Reynold last year and giving him a boost after he’s been good but not winning on the circuit this year. I’d buy Tim stock now, the fact he had confidence to let it go slow and cruised a 52 last lap shows me a lot.
