Shoe companies should be falling over themselves to sign her. Generational talent, and good looking. With a healthy dose of 'doesn't take herself too seriously'. Absolutely perfect for marketing.
I forgot - my guess is she stays with Nike (that's usually what happens lately). Will join Bowerman and continue working with Solinsky.
I'm not criticizing Valby, I just find it odd that she never chose to run in a pro meet, she could have been pulled to faster times.
Eh, I don’t think it’s surprising. She’s battled injuries the first 2 years of college. I remember her stride looking painfully ‘off’ in her last few 5000m races last spring.
astro thinks one of these two people is 100% clean and the other is a freak who is jacked-up on all kinds of anabolic steroids. Can you guess which one he thinks is dirty and which one he thinks just eats a lot of chicken and egg whites? Hint: Look for the "red flags."
I cant imagine how nice it must be to be that young, performing well (and off low mileage), still seemingly loving the sport and your teammates, and having your whole life/career laid out for you with some of the biggest companies in the world vying for your attention, ready to write huge cheques.

1) From a performance standpoint, no American woman distance runners is worth anything close to 650k-800k per year as I assume that would make her one of the highest paid women's distance runners on planet earth. The gap between 14:52/30:50 and 14:00/28:55 is VAST. Let's just remember what the last truly dominant NCAA American woman - Abbey D - has done as a pro - not a lot.
I think the odds that Valby never breaks 14:30/30:00 are much greater than the fact that she ever challenges for a global medal on the track.
2) But running isn't the NFL where your salary correlates very close to how good you are. Shoe companies are trying to build a brand, not win games. If you are going for looks, great person to put in advertisements, influence HSers, etc. then obviously most will understand why she'd be near the top of earnings in the sport.
If a Justyn Knight was getting 400k a year coming out of the NCAA (and Kessler 600k out of HS), then I can easily see how the argument can be made that Valby is worth double that.
3) The fact that Valby cross trains all the time would not be a positive for me if I was a shoe company in terms of thinking about her potential. Why in the world would you think she'd suddenly be able to handle mileage as a pro? I. wouldn't. She might be made for the marathon but if she can't handle the mileage, she's likely gonna struggle at 26.2.
But it makes her more relatable to your average 30year old mom buying shoes and it's great to mention in women's magazine.

Nike, makes sense, but a move to altitude in either Boulder or Flagstaff is a must if she is to try to compete on the World Stage. I am not sure who her coach could be, maybe Mike Smith ...I don't know. But Bowerman TC is not a good choice, all the top runners have fled, that tells you something.

That guy is Nick Bare - the guy who ran a 2:39 marathon at CIM while looking like a bodybuilder.
As to you're first point, are you counting Athing Mu in that? the 800 is obviously her best event, but she also did the 4:03 1500 in a tactical championship race

Were you dropped on your head?? What is wrong with you, to be so out of touch with what has been going on here, for which YOU specifically have played a HUGE part?!?
So here is a thread, that was started around the same time when ROJO, on his infamous podcast, when talking about Parker Valby, said ‘John Kellog is in the back room making hand signals pretending to inject needles in his arms.’
