Just going down the start list for the Women's 10000 and noting the PR's; holy sh*t. A woman among girls; no one is even in the same zip code as Ms. Valby.
Malachi Snow of San Jose St doing the Ackera Nugent double -- comes back for the 100 after making the 110 finals with a 13.44, but his fried legs only yield a 10.60.
Ashe on the bubble -- and was that a Henry Thomas mention??? Legendary California sprinter. Here's him anchoring Hawthorne to the still standing NR of 3:07.40, pushed by Roy Martin's Roosevelt squad:
Historic Race by Two Storied HS Track and Field Programs. California's Hawthorne HS and Roosevelt from Dallas, Texas. On Anchor Leg two of High School Track ...
No Parvej Khan mentioned in your 1500m potential winners...
He's not even in the final. That might havae been the worse tactical race I've ever seen. He ran like the first 1200 in lane 2. Just run in the last on the rail if you are going to do that. Instead he was running like 2nd or 3rd to last but in the midddle or outside of lane 2.
And it wouldn't be a track meet if I didn't complain about the announcing but in the 1500, I knew like 400 meters out from the finish that the top 7 would advance. Somehow the paid analysts have no clue until like a minute after the race is over.
Rheinhardt Harrison is one of the dumbest racers I’ve ever seen, frankly. He closed faster than all but two of the seven qualifiers from his heat over the last 400, but he put himself dead-last by half a second at the bell for no reason. You’d think that at some point he’d realize that’s not the way to race at this level; it burns him every time he races.
You do wonder if it’s being dumb or lacking confidence. This was a PB for him, but clearly if you are closing in 54.4 you should be giving yourself a chance.

Yeah hard to watch for sure. Basten ran tactically horrible as well which is unfortunately the norm. Didn’t seem to be himself all year so I wonder if there were some injuries. He’s usually a lock to at least make the final.
Basten was never in it. lingered in the middle of the pack and never made a strong move to give himself a chance. bad day, I guess.
he barely made it out of regionals. maybe an injury or lack of confidence. oh well, good luck as a pro, Isaac. Hope you figure it out.

1. This was after the 4x100 too. I wasn't expecting anything crazy but considering he is a true freshman I think he's gonna do some crazy things in the future.
2. Max Thomas is not the son of Henry Thomas. Not sure why they said that. It is not true.
3. That Hawthorne record is INSANE. It's shocking that its so fast and it's even more shocking that ANYONE has gotten close. Also, Henry Thomas got appendicitis before the state meet that year, and Hawthorne still ran 3:10. He ended up recovering over summer and ran 45.09, still the California state record.

Yeah, good point on the 4x1. Weird they mentioned, then? I checked USC's page and you're right - they just corrected on broadcast too.
Something about a classic HS 4x4... the previous record holders, Berkeley, also had a strong 800m man on the roster too. Glad you appreciate

Probably b/c Oregon runners don't race enough. Rheinhardt feels out of his element in a big race.
Rowan Hamilton of Cal squeezes out a discus win with a 77.18 over Harvard's Kenneth Ikeji's 77.12 throw
44.96 for Morales-Williams and he was barely even phased. Didn't even catch his breath. I'm telling ya'll, this guy is gonna run something special on Friday.

The eye test has Auhmad Robinson looking way better than Morales-Williams which doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. But maybe that’s just that Morales-Williams flails a ton no matter what.

he REALLY got off the gas from 200 to 300. Can't do that.
That 400 final is gonna be crazy. All the big players got through.
