I think everyone is right about Olaf. No one has any idea how good they will turn out to be. There is an argument they're a top 5 team, and there is an argument they're 5th in the region. Both are kind of out there, and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. They return a terrific group of disparate talent with almost zero experience. Their event groups in track were intense and highly ranked but qualified only Kelly for nationals. They're not a "young" team per se, but they also don't have any seasoned vets; maybe Skemp? They were returning some guys from the XC Nats team last year, but there is no clear low stick. No one seems super consistent outside Turlington. They have guys with solid times, 9 flat and 15 flat, who run 26 and 27 min 8ks. I feel like with Stout/SP, you know what you're getting, but Olaf's potential is higher?
Also Regionals are IN NORTHFIELD. A week after MIACs are IN NORTHFIELD. Talk about hometown advantage. Olaf does not have to cross county lines to run a full season and qualify for nats. If I'm their coach I'm chaining the team to my porch.
