Kerr won, a win is a win BUT does anyone know if Jakob’s time is the fastest mile ever run for not racing in a year? His race seems way more impressive than Kerrs when you think how he hasn't raced at all.
I never thought a runner could win a mile race in a British National Record (and US area record) of 3:45 and be considered a loser.
Whatever twist is needed to soothe a femboy's hurt ego.
Notice how Jakob sought to quickly dimish Kerr's accomplishment instead of just focusing solely on his own results and plan? It's like he has to justify the loss because there is of course no way someone else could just be better, lol. Full blown narcissist.

Lolz... in a year? Come on man.. you femboys really think he decided to enter Pre half trained and not knowing what times he's capable of right now? Let me put it to you this way - he didn't race Kerr to lose to him. The contortions I'm seeing here are insane.
Opening his outdoor season with the #2 American Mile ever! Excellent starting place. He only needs Top 3 at the Trials and to be on the starting line of the Olympic Final. There's only 1 competition that matters this year!
Just watched Josh Kerr workout video and I’d like to double down on my take. I think yall are crazy to think this race wasn’t very good news for Jakob. Josh is where he’s at from monster workouts, while Jakob is where he is from safe, base building workouts.
Also remember when the tables were turned last year, Jakob crushed Josh who was coming off injury.
Jakob will be in world record shape come the Olympics.
You have no way of knowing that. It's more likely they are both where they are from years of quality training. It's straight up simpleton thinking that somehow Jakob was not preparing much for this race. He's been foaming at the mouth for revenge since Josh snatched his lollipop in Budapest. Dude was highly motivated to come in sharp and ready, and that he did! Notice how nobody is trying to downplay Jakob's results? He had an excellent race.
But first things first - we acknowledge the winner and his accomplishment. Josh crushed it and showed everyone again why his WC win was no fluke. We don't know his 1500 ceiling yet as it's early in the season. He was focused on the 3k indoors and all we know is he's a stronger runner now who can more easily hold a fast pace, and shows up ready to execute. Josh has elevated his fitness and mental game to a point that he can no longer be a next guy that you just ignore. If he were to run the fastest 1500 this year I would not be surprised. And as far as the Olympic 1500, the odds have to be in his favor right now vs Jakob. Sure, Jakob has some time to improve, but even getting back to 2k and 2-mile WR shape isn't likely going to cut it for a gold unless he gets lucky. Until I see signs of an improved kick or that he can solo a 3:26, my money is on Kerr.

The goose is in a great spot... knows he's clearly the best US miler, feels less pressure than Jakob and Kerr, and can execute his training in a way that's best for him to peak in the final.
Jakob - You see how happy he was after the race? You ever think you’d see him so happy about second place? For all this talk about Kerrs kick, Jakob didn’t lose a step on him the last lap. He didn’t pull into lane 2 on the home stretch thinking Kerr would kick it in, only to find out that WAS Kerrs kick. Jakob is not worried and will be the clear winner in Paris as the rounds will do Kerr no favors
Gourley - Been running 6 weeks after lots of injury, overtaking Wightman at the line. 6 Weeks. If a Brit wins in Paris, it will be Gourley.
Kessler - Had he finished, it would have been back with Hocker and would have hurt his confidence. DNFing p*ssed him off and the dude will be HUNGRY. My pick to win the US trials.
Losers:
Kerr - Dude barely beat a half-trained Jakob but celebrated like he had gone Super Saiyan. Dude has never been on fire like this and the only thing growing more than his confidence is his head. Jakob will grind him down on lap three in the Paris final and he’ll poop the bed to finish outside the medals after burning out from a long stretch of firing on all cylinders
Teare - Yeah, Yeah , Yeah, he TRIPPED (didn’t fall), so there is an excuse except for the fact the guy that actually fell, while running his off event, got up and beat him. Teare needs to focus on the 5K and drop the 1500. If he doesn’t, he’ll miss the team in both.
Nuguse - This guy is a wimp. I don’t know how else to say it. Even interviewers know it because they ask him about Pokémon and Taylor Swift and he clearly gets more excited about that than running. He’s actually worse than Athing Mu who also doesn’t like running because at least she refuses to do it most of the year unlike Yared who is probably too scared to tell anybody no.
Thats my take. Maxwell Gem, OUT.
As stated by others this might be a troll post but it is still raising some questions which are worth addressing.
First: the post reflects the sentiment in many other posts here where people who favors one or more runners almost spend more time denigrating runners who challenge their heroes.
As already stated by others, Josh ran a fantastic race breaking the long standing British record and running by far the fastest SPRING Bowerman Mile ever in a time which converts to a 3:28.65 in the 1500m which is a nice PB IN HIS SECOND OUTDOOR RACE OF THE SEASON.
So Kerr has all reason to be happy. Jakob will possibly be able to improve at least some seconds if his training goes well but Kerr will probably also improve. I think Kerr most likely will break 3:28 in the 1500m if he gets a race under good condition. The 2 of them must be the favorites for gold in Paris at this moment but I don´t think any of them is a lock.
By the way: Kerr is formally only no 3 in the world ranking, but in reality he should be no. 1, with Jakob no. 2 and Nuguse no. 3 at this moment.
---------------
I agree with other posters who consider the negativity against Nuguse unjustified. Nuguse ran a time there would have won all Bowerman Miles before 2023 and it is no shame to be less than a sec behind Kerr and Jakob. It isn´t a question of will power. He just lacked a bit of shape to match the two other top runners. And remember Nuguse has already run a mile almost 1.5 sec faster than Kerr´s so if Nuguse can find his September 2023 shape before Paris he will very much be in the mix.

Troll, not long ago you was quite certain that Jakob´s season would be damaged coming back from a serious achilles injury. You was not right as I dared to predict.
But now you have taken the opposite position that Jakob has almost peaked for this season opener.
If Jakob comes back to his 2000m WR shape he is (at least at paper) 3:25.65 in the 1500m and low 3:42 in the mile.
Considering he possibly is relatively stronger in the 2000m than in the shorter distances I will cautiously say he was low 3:26 in the 1500m and mid 3:42 in the mile in his Brüssel 2023 shape.
Great win for Kerr, but I do worry about if he's peaking too early or his going to have to ride too long of a peak. He looks great right now, but he has still has Euros and then the Olympics over the next two months.
Not that worried about Jakob either. Missed XC and indoors for the first time in awhile, and the Flotrack video indicates he's clearly in base training still, and was within 1 second of Kerr. He will peak at the right time. He always does. He's going to medal in both the 1,500 and 5,000. It's just a matter of what color they are.
Nuguse is undoubtedly a great runner, but he's kind of in no-man's land. He does not have the kick of Wightman, Kerr, or even Hocker, but he is an aerobic monster. However, he is still not the aerobic monster that Jakob is and has not figured out how to take the sting out of everybody from 800 out the way Jakob has. He could go for gold and blow up, or he could play it safe and bring home a bronze. It will be an interesting summer of championship racing for him.
Wightman is coming off injury, but the dude is going to have his wheels when it matters. Just needs to build endurance to navigate the rounds.
Gourley looks great and is also coming off injury. Heckuva 1-2-3 for the UK.
Are there any Kenyans who can touch the UK team, Jakob, and Nuguse?
Centro is done.
Hocker and Teare need to learn how to race. This ain't college. They can't just sit 2nd on the shoulder of the guy leading and outkick them. They need to learn to run the rail in the pack (think peak Centro) and then kick. The need tactical races, because their kick is their only chance to compete against the top guys right now.
Hobbs got clipped in the pack, but his success in indoor makes me think he will bounce back.

I don't think this is a troll post at all, but one thing is clear: this was definitely unhinged. the only thing you got right was Jakob.
No, the #1 take this early from this race is that the Brits were right - it will be harder to make UK 1500 mens team than the US 1500 mens team
I am not saying it wasn't exciting. I am saying it would have been more exciting if Nuguse had made a suicidal move from 400 out and blown up. His epic "move" would have shown courage and would have shaken up the whole race. But then the OP would be criticizing his stupidity (for kicking too early) instead of his "gutless" tactics.
I am not saying I thought that, but that was the gist of the OP's criticism of Nuguse (which he also agreed was off-base).
p.s. Some people (correctly) pointed out that because there were no lead changes from 600m out, it was just a long grind to the line. Nothing "happened" in the final 600m, so some people found that a tad unexciting. That is just their opinion. I depends on what you like to watch, I guess. I like lead changes...
How the heck is is Nuguse supposed to make a move on a guy who is running a 53.2 closing lap in a 3:45 race. At that point anyone in the world other than maybe peak Jakob or Kerr (depending on whose leading) is just hanging on.
I am doing a bad job of making myself clear. It was an AMAZING race and the top three were awesome. They were running so fast that any kick they had was mirrored by the kick of the other two runners.
I was just pointing out that the optics of it was that they "never changed position" at all. A non-expert who didn't know about our sport would just say, they are "running in a line."
I prefer when there are many lead changes, but this was great too!
So, the dude that stepped off the track is a winner, but the bloke that broke the 35 year old British mile record and beat out his principle rival is a loser.
Some people round here are on a strict diet of dickhead sandwiches.

I think it's the fastest time for anyone convincingly beaten by Josh Kerr in a DL race.
Kerr - Dude barely beat a half-trained Jakob but celebrated like he had gone Super Saiyan.
He broke the long standing British record from 1985! Why the hell is he not supposed to be psyched?!
Because he was wearing super shoes and the guys he beat have run 2+ seconds faster, it's a mid-May race in an Olympic year. Do you think Michael Jordan gave two sh*ts when the Utah Jazz beat him both times during the regular season in 1997-1998? Do you think he cared when they celebrated? No, he got to do this when it matters.
