Jacob is great but should learn to control his mouth. I'd give him a 1% chance of pulling off a 1500/5000 double in Paris.
His 3:45 at Pre is awesome for an opener after coming back from an injury which delayed his training this year. The delay may work to his advantage. Will be interesting to see if Kerr can now hold his fitness all the way through the games.
Please. He probably is close to having a 50% chance of winning the 1500m, and is not far from 100% for the 5000m.
Troll you are still so biased that you can´t think clearly!
Kerr didn´t boss Jakob today. He ran a great race but he just only held Jakob off.
Jakob bossed Kerr in DL Oslo and Lausanne last year and he might do it again when he is closer to top shape.
Nope, he bossed him. Threw the hammer down well before the last lap even and Jakob could only try to hang on. Jakob’s territory in 1500 is running WLs in paced non-championship races - and Josh just went over and took his scalp. I see zero reason for Josh to be worried about Jakob as he showed no improvement in his speed. Josh best him when he was in close to WR shape... why should he worry about a Jakob that is not close to that fitness yet and who isn't changing what he's doing? Just stop with your excuses.
The FACT is that Kerr won in Budapest when Jakob was more than 3.5 sec away from WR pace but as I have stated before you are immune to facts and I can add: also immune to reason.
When Jakob has sharpened he will be at least as fast as Kerr (he is already close now coming back from injury).

I agree it was a great result for Jakob and that in a few months he will probably have the fitness edge over Kerr. however..... realize that Kerr not only just beat Jakob but beat him in a "Time trial" style paced race and leading from the front. In short he beat Jakob at his own game. as has been said on here many times unless Jakob solos a 327 from the gun Kerr can always out kick him in a slightly tactical slower paced race even if his pure mile Fitness [as measured by a time trial paced race] is not quite as good. So..... both athletes of course can take something very positive from this race.
I am definitely not counting out Kerr in the Paris final in a championship style race. He looks to be super dialed in, super fit and super confident.

It is not Jakob's "own game". He was simply stronger than everyone last year so to run fast, he had to get to the front immediately and run for these PBs. Jakob does not need to run a 327 because we don't know for sure when he is 100% what he can do in a slower race. El Guerrouj got destroyed in two races before his historic win in 04. One he faded to like 5th and another he lost to Lagat at his own "game" as you like to say (3:27.6 vs 3:27.4). Heres a link to that race
As I said on another thread, Josh ran a great race at Pre and deserves props, but Jacob did just fine considering his winter injury. He should be ready at Paris, but I'm not convinced he'll be 100%. I'd love to see another double but I think the odds are that he doesn't win both...if either. No knock on him, it's just a question of regaining that lost fitness. You have a lot more tactical options when you're just in better shape than everyone else.

Their fitness for Paris will be virtually identical to what it was yesterday. Just a one second improvement would win the race for Jakob.
Yeah on that day, overall though, the best runner is the one who ran most consistently throughout the season, and that is fact.
No, it isn't. The best runner on the day is the one who wins that day.
Yeah but the best runner overall takes into account the whole season and what they achieved. I don’t believe in putting too much weight on the olympics or the world championships since so much can go wrong. For me, they are just a cherry on top of a consistent season.

There are no medals for being what fans consider being the best runner overall. It doesn't give Jakob the win over Kerr when Kerr has just beaten him - again. Jakob's comments show how much that eats at him.

Agree with this, Kerr was at least another second better than Jakob today taking into account the big move he made to get into the lead and front running for 600m.
