He was the top distance runner of his era, who trained harder than any woman can today. That you think this is all a natural progression in the sport shows how deluded you fans are. The biggest progression in the sport is what athletes put in their bodies.
I am a fan of Emil. My favorite runner, ever. Any other stupid thing you want to throw at me? Or would you like to try and give an intelligent reply to the facts I presented?
ALL SPORTS get better with time. The best Football teams of the 50s wouldn't score a single touchdown against the current playoff teams, every single player would be happy to get off the field in one piece after the first quarter. Same with hockey. Same with basketball. Same with baseball.
Why would the amateurs of T&A in the 50s stack up against todays professionals any better?
Doesn't change the fact that she'd be running 31 flat without PEDs.
Darn shame the WR is now sub 29 and our best American female haven''t run sub 30 yet
Well to be fair Monson did finish 5th in the World. The problem? Only 1 Kenyan beat her that day, and the 3 who made the team yesterday are better than the 4th placer from that race. Ethiopia who went 1-2-3 has Tsegay and Gebreselama going forward and plenty more prospects. On the positive side, Uganda hasn’t really figured out the 10K yet, and few East African women switch nationalities any more.

You didn't give any facts. You just waffled.
How predictable. You can't give an intelligent reply.
Bruh, shoes are to blame more than anything. Guaranteed whatever PEDs are out there have been around for some time. Athletes aren’t using anything now that they weren’t already using 5 or 10 years ago. For a sub 30:00 10k runner I’d say shoes are worth, at least, 30 seconds. Shoe defenders will kick and scream but it’s the truth.
How would you know that? Shoes are worth a lot, but you are nuts if you think innovation in PEDs has slowed down.
What are athletes using now that they weren’t using in 2019? In 2019 the record was 29:17 set in 2016 and the previous record you’d have to go back to ‘93. No record from 2017-20. Then, magically, record was broken 3 times. What happened in 2020? Cheat shoes became available to pretty much everyone. Since 2020 year was ruined by Covid, we had to wait a year. Have pharmaceuticals improved since the 90s? Of course. But the improvement probably comes from being less detectable than previous PED. The obvious answer here is shoes. But no one wants to admit that shoes are as effective as EPO or multiple other PEDs floating around.
I have not said there will be no progress in sports; there will be. But it goes beyond "progress" to see women running faster than great male athletes of the past who were legends of the sport. Anyone who understands differences between male and female physiology will understand that. It is one of the arguments today against intersex and trans athletes competing in women's events.
Nurmi was a legend of the sport as well. He ran 14:28 and 30:06. Are we prepared to say that any woman who surpasses his times from 100 years ago is doping? Is there a time cutoff where we can say without doubt (and tangible evidence) that an athlete is doping, regardless of all other factors (shoes, training, etc.)?
Unlike Nurmi, Zatopek trained more like athletes do today. He was regarded as an endurance phenomenon in his era. But what I am seeing now is women runners carving huge chunks off the distance records in a relatively short period of time. At Rio we saw Ayana solo front-run to a 10k world record that astonished commentators, who said they couldn't believe what they were seeing. Yet her record has been completely eclipsed since. Now Chebet has run well under 29 minutes and is only half a minute away from what Billy Mills ran to win at Tokyo '64. At the rate the women are slashing these records they will be surpassing Mills any time soon. It is no coincidence that these runners come from that part of the world with the worst record for doping in the sport.

They were astonished by Ayana because she did it in an Olympic Final in hot weather.

Absolutely. And a little bit later Clarke, than Rono, than Ondieki, than Geb, than Bekele, than Cheptegei. But they won't stop here. Sub 26 just a matter of time. In 1000 years, they will run faster than light. IF they keep improving like they did in recent years.
All these same fools will be acting surprised in a few years time when she gets popped. Just like all the other Kenyans. If you’re believing anything coming out of Kenya then you’re a joke. Kenya, the land of cheaters lol
Another weak white fragile guy who is just mad that he was never able to run that fast.
Notice that white guys always discredit any and everything a black woman does.

No, they weren't. They were astonished that an athlete could front-run to a world record in an Olympic final with no one else in sight. It was ****ing ridiculous. And obvious. Like Chebet's run. It's the track equivalent of pro wrestling.

They don't have to improve to sub-26 to show they are doping. Sub-30 did that.
