Do you actually not know who his coach is? Regular poster on here sitting up on his high horse claiming to be the worlds premier 800m coach! Deng quit the group. Bol guilty AF. Sumner disappeared without trace. Mathas and Learmonth bang average 1.46 guys, probably 1.48 unaided
Deng left for doper Sepeng, so I don't think he was trying to wash himself here.
Statement from Bol January 20th 2023 on twitter. “To be clear, I have NEVER in my life purchased, researched, possessed, administered, or used synthetic EPO or any other Prohibited Substance. I voluntarily turned over my laptop, iPad andphone to Sport Integrity Australia to prove this.”
Researched….hmmm
I gotta admit that article and this thread is one of the more meaningful I've ever read on LetsRun. This makes me INSTANTLY want to reevaluate so many things - Bol, Lagat, ec.
His lawyer Greene is right, Bol has been 'defamed' by all of this. If I was Bol, I'd be irate that Greene somehow caused this to go public as I and many others who have read this are now assuming Bol was dirty. Could it have been a coincidence? Sure. But I"m just telling you my reaction without a filter.
And then he has the same agent at Bernard Lagat, who got off for the same thing?
Initially, this whole thing made me think, "Wow. Wada doesn't really have the sciencce down. Thank God Bol had the same agent as Lagat who knows this stuff is unrealiable."
Now my conclusion is almost the opposite.
Who knows, maybe more info will come out and I'll change again.

He had the research line after being exonerated too. So it’s just a lie, and an unnecessary one at that, which in the court of public opinion is very bad.

A defence to defamation is fact. What Bol was found to have on his phone is fact. The reasonable inference from that fact is why would an athlete who doesn't dope or intend to have advice about how to dope have information about a doping method on his phone? It is even more dubious when we see that he failed a drug test and only got off being convicted of a violation because of doubts about the 'B' sample. It doesn't look good.
Why would anyone be reading about how to beat doping tests and SAVING it on their phone unless they were doping? A clean athlete wouldn't/shouldn't even be interested in such stuff. He was doping.

There could well be many journalists, bloggers, fans, coaches (including myself in 3 of these categories) who might validly check out this sort of info because we are curious about this aspect of the sport. Indeed I've done just this sort of thing and i know others who have done so
However I find it strange that in his list of things that Bol categorically denies ie possessing and administering, he chooses to include the verb research; almost as if he is including research as an integral part of the process leading to the administering of PED. As the research can just be an end in itself, I find it suspicious he used the words he chose in his denial.
I know that two of Rinaldi’s runners just got spanked by James Preston in Germany who broke the world’s longest standing national record. 1.44.04 erasing the GOAT Peter Snell from the record books

Your point being? On this topic? Oh! Nothing! Why don't you stay on-topic?
Let’s be clear, the B sample was tested at a date selected by the testing agency, not us. They send you a letter advising of when the B sample will be tested and you can send a representive there to ensure it’s opened correctly if you so choose. It was about 4-5 weeks after the A sample was tested. I truely hope that our testing system isn’t that bad that 4 weeks makes a massive difference. I’m not sure how they have been retesting samples from 2012 if this is the case…but I’m not an expert.
Secondly, the wording of the statement was that the screenshot which contatined information about a letter Conte wrote in the mid 2000’s. Not that the screenshot was of the letter or that he actually read that letter.
Pete ran 1:44.29 and 3:34.54 (PB) last year, so it unfair to say his results have dropped off. He had a poor WC, but that was due to other factors and not reflective of the shape he was in. I take the blame as it was me who pushed him to run these champs when he didn’t;t really want to.
I wished they published so of the questions they asked me during my 4hr interview, as most of them were laughable. They were telling me that athletes take EPO in the off-season so they don’t have to train! Again, I’m no expert, but I find that hard to believe.
Everyone is entitled to their own option, but I still have no doubt in my mind of his innocence and if you ever spent any time at all with him, you’d believe the same.
“There was a screenshot found on Mr Bol’s phone which was an article which included a letter from Victor Conte to [former UK Sprinter] Dwain Chambers discussing micro-dosing with EPO in the off-season and there was also discussion [of] various techniques to game the whereabouts system, putting in inaccurate information, making sure your voicemail was full,” WADA’s general counsel Ross Wenzel said
Has anyone pointed out that the article in question, as well as the letter are freely accessible and were published/reported on by media outlets in 2008?
Dear Dwain, Per your request, this letter is to confirm I am willing to assist you in providing UK Sport and others with information that will help them to improve the effectiveness of their anti-doping programs. The specific...
Interestingly, the context of the letter came after Victor Conte was jailed for "conspiracy to distribute steroids and money laundering", and that he was writing to provide "UK Sport and others with information that will help them to improve the effectiveness of their anti-doping programs."
The letter concludes with Conte's anti-doping recommendations:
In summary, it's my opinion that more than fifty percent of the drug tests performed each year should be during the off season or the fourth quarter. This is when the track athletes are duckin' and divin' and using anabolic steroids and other drugs. Let me provide some rather startling information for your consideration. If you check the testing statistics on the USADA website, you will find that the number of out-of-competition drug tests performed during each quarter of 2007 are as follows: in the first quarter there were 1208, second quarter 1295, third quarter 1141 and in the fourth quarter there were only 642.
In late 2003 I advised USADA about the importance of random testing during the fourth quarter of the year. They did initially seem to follow my advice because they increased the number of fourth-quarter tests in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
However, they failed to continue this practice in 2007. Why would USADA decide to perform only 15% of their annual out-of-competition tests during the fourth quarter? Let's not forget that this is the off season before the upcoming summer Olympic Games. This is equivalent to a fisherman knowing that the fish are ready to bite and then consciously deciding that it is time to reel in his line and hook, lean his fishing pole up against a tree and take a nap.
On several occasions, I have provided detailed information to both USADA and WADA in an attempt to help them establish more effective testing policies and procedures.
