Split is at the finish line which means it was the last 10 meters of the 800 leg plus the 1600 leg.
You guys are clueless
the last 1600m of the race are what the time if anchors always are
the handoff or exchanges are nuanced in any relay race
you get credit for the last 1600m run
nothing more or less
this is 101 stuff
stop the insanity
You must be a real pleasant person to be around. Unless the split time is taken 1600 m from the finish (which in this case it turned out to be) the split time is not for 1600. There was some documentation that suggested it was for 1609 (if it was 5 and only 5 laps to the mile), but that seems to have turned out to be wrong. Note on the timing site that split was for "1 to go". 1 what? The documentation suggested 1 mile. But it appears to be 1 leg. Maybe next year they can say "1600 to go".

Whether you like me or not or whether I am unoleasant or not
Relay split taking is older than me or you
the last 1600 of any Dmr is measured the same way always
Whan the stick, the stick passes at 1600m to go
i did not nake up the method to suit my position here
Except you are incorrect. These aren't splits like you are thinking. These are FAT splits at the finish line. Washington has a 308 meter track. Notre Dame is 320.
You are referring to leg splits which are handheld on a track that is not 200 or 400. Everyone else is telling you that the timing system is only at the finish line. Being that rhe track used to be 1/5 mile, the timing system would have a split with 5 laps to go or 1 mile to go but not 1600 to go. The splits for all other legs today had to be taken by coaches because the timing system got them in the middle of their legs at the finish line.

Got it, thank you.
i thought they had revised their ability to get FAT splits
i should have known ND has long had estimated splits
smSi, when the stick goes thru the start/ finish line how much is there to go
1600 or a mile
you can still figure out the anchor splits right?
if the track is 320m its 1600 from line to finish line

You are the unpleasant one who is misinformed…a DMR is 4000 meters long. 1200 + 400 + 800 + 1600 equals 4000. It’s been this way since it’s been metric. High school and NCAA does this. They take the split from the finish line, the exchange zone counts as the preceding leg…this is middle school knowledge. Rbtrackfan…stick to glazing Katelyn touhy rather than trying to lecture educated people on DMR splits…what in the world, you have to be in high school or something…
