In the thread title you invented a new and original way of misspelling Jakob’s last name -Ingebrigtsten. -I get it; it’s a difficult name to write. Here’s some help (from a Norwegian): It’s natural to split Jakob’s surname into two: Ingebrigt and then: sen (meaning son of). Ingebrigtsen therefore means son of Ingebrigt (Ingebrigt is a Norwegian male first name, although somewhat rare. It means “bright angel”)…
Dear Noah, Armstrong had already clarified that outdoor tracks are faster than indoor tracks as you spend less energy going round as many times.
Jakob's 7:54 is worth no less than 7:56 indoors right? Since Josh could have gone a tad faster in Millrose seeing how he still had something to spare despite being tired I reckon he can go 7:58 if really needed.
7:56 and 7:58 is really not that much different you know?

The difference between indoors and outdoors over that distance will be greater than 2 seconds. The phenomenal Kipketer ran almost 2 seconds slower indoors for his world record over the 800. (That is also the closest differential over that event.) I think you're looking at at least 4 seconds over 2 miles.
Damn man, that's why you mean so much to me, dear Armstrong!!!
So that settles it, Jakob and Josh are almost on par right now, to mean that Josh outdoors is almost at the same level as Jakob outdoors when he ran 7:54 2 mile last year, maybe around 7:55-56, while Jakob is going to be very much deteriorated by July Paris which is to mean he will only be at also 7:56 2 mile shape in the best case scenario due to Achille injury, but probably slower I would think or maybe even DNS!!!!
Thank you :)

Jakob is a gift to us track fans. He's like Muhammad Ali at this point with these quips:
"I'd have beaten him blindfolded" "It's great he's improving, so that I have someone to run with"
I am a bit ambivalent here as there comes a point where he could almost appear to be a caricature of himself, this brash cocky (his fanboys may say “matter of fact” instead) kid who can usually back it up. It won’t be so endearing when he cannot back it up, and I wonder if he is partially speaking “tongue in cheek” at times just because he wants to entertain or increase interest. I credit him for making himself easy for me to root against in races.
I think your last sentence is meaningful.
love him or hate him, it’s gettting everyone fired up for his races and bringing attention to a sport that people generally don’t give a crap about.
it’s good to have some characters on the scene that play by their own rules and say what they think.
paris is going to be epic. I’m mid 40’s and I can’t remember anything like this. The internet definitely makes it so we all know and hear about it in today’s world though. Probably some of this back in the day but it just wasn’t out in the open like this is.
I’m team Norway. I love what that dude has brought to our sport.
kerr is awesome too though.
take it all in and enjoy. The buildup to Paris is already awesome and going to get even better.

I’m not ambivalent: I can’t stand the arrogant little prick. I would love to see him start to struggle so that he may learn some humility—although I suspect that may simply be beyond him, and we’d only see bitter nastiness and continued self-delusion instead.
Seeing these quotes and I love it lol. At this point you Jakob fans gotta be thinking he actually a lot more similar to kerr than we initially thought at least psychologically speaking.
I was thinking the same thing. I am old enough to have seen the Ali-Frazier fights. and the Ali-Foreman fights and Jakob reminds me of a distance runner, track version of that. For the first few months he was silent and Kerr was talking all that sh*t. Since Jakob doesn't follow social media mush plus just got married, he probably didn't her about what Kerr was [posting till it made Norway papers. He read it and was probably WTF! And now it's on, and Jacob is better at this than Kerr. Jakob has been this kind of cocky confident since he was 11 when he forecasted the 2020 Olympics and being better than his brothers. Kerr may find out that he is out of his depth. But for Jakob, Kerr's earlier insults were like bulletin board material for a M Jordan or a professional sports team. This will only inspire Jakob!

Jakob is listed as 6 ft 150lbs/68kg, not so little for a middle distance runner. Kerr is listed as 6ft 154lbs/70kg.
Would be an interesting cage match, better still if blindfolded.
