Athletes doing a little cross and prayer before every race is weird. They think their respective creator of the universe cares about their dinky little track race. This is actually mental illness, we've just normalized it.

There are a lot of different things that athletes do before a competition that gets them in the right state of mind. If they feel that it helps, then why should you care?
God this broadcast is horrible. I always forget how back NBC coverage is. Race, one slomo clip, generic interview, then 5 min of commercial. Just awful
I swear when they pulled up the start list and showed Susanna Kallur as the WR holder, I thoght to myself, "How in the world is it possible that some random white girl from Sweden has the WR in teh 60mh? That would be a great story for Jonathan to write?"
(But then I got negative and started wondering if the story would suck with drug accusations - to be honest I know little about it but it's tought being a track fan)
No we have a new WR.
But hurdle experts, what's the deal with Kallur? How do you have the 60m WR but no global medals outdoors at 100mh?
It seems kinda crazy that Sally Pearson didn’t go faster (7.73 PB), but her best chance in 2012 she only ran at World Indoors and just smoked everyone.
"We know Hiltz, who ran 2:34.09 for 1000m two weeks ago (not technically a US indoor record since it was on an oversize track) is fit, but Hiltz hasn’t race above a mile since 2019. Does Hiltz have the endurance to hang?"
Compared to:
"Meanwhile Monson, who set a US record for 3k at this meet last year, is gearing up for a fast 10,000 in March. Does she have the kick to prevail in a close race?"
I wonder why it was phrased so awkwardly.
What is wrong with you? Hiltz is a biological female competing in the women's race. If you don't like their pronouns no one is stopping you from using "she". Not gonna lie, it makes you kind of a jerk, like refusing to call someone anything but their full first name if they go by their middle name. But it's a free country, and I will loudly affirm your right to call Hiltz by any pronouns you want.
Has nothing to do with the actual sport, of course, since Hiltz' gender identity has nothing to do with their running ability. But "the sport" isn't really your top priority, is it?
