I'm just concerned about what this might do the masters age grade % calculations. Old guys like Abdi running fast marathons make the rest of us look slower!
He is the SECOND oldest athlete at the trials. The other athlete ran the trials standard Abdi did not. He qualified by being a 2020 Olympian.
Wait, who is the older athlete? Are they on the women's side? I know there are some male masters runners that hit the standard but didn't think any were older than Abdi.

Dot McMahan turned 47 back in November, whereas Abdi turned 47 on January 1st. This will be her fifth consecutive US Olympic Marathon Trials.
Not expecting anything from him but his best. I doubt he’ll podium, but it’ll be the best story of the race by far if he does. Either way, I’m glad he’s toeing the line and will applaud his effort as he races people half his age!
Sorry, anyone doing a “training camp” in Ethiopia where epo is available over the counter in this day and age is sus.
It seems as though it would be a simple matter for letsrun moderators to delete unsubstantiated doping accusations and speculations and ban recidivists. They don't have to catch everyone doing this, but it could do much to clean up the trashiness of letsrun's message board. Posts have been deleted and posters banned for far less. These posters typically contribute little worthwhile and much that is merely ignorant, ugly, hurtful, and defamatory.

Thanks, will be interested to see how all the masters runners end up doing.
The only way it would be 0% is if he wasn’t in the race. This is why you run the race. Are the odds good? Of course not. but it’s a marathon, a lot can happen. Couple guys have an off day and he makes a lucky move at the right time and the weather is junk….anything is possible, saying 0% is inaccurate.
Your post is incorrect. If you were in the race would you have a chance? People like you are obviously a bit slow in cognition. The answer is Abdi has zero chance. Abdi could make the women’s team (if he were a woman) but it would not be a given).
