Brosnan coached his athletes to multiple school records and PB’s at UCLA and the most all Americans seen in years. Example DMR , 3:54 mile , 13:37 indoor school record , sub 8 min 3k, 4:08 women’s 1500m , 1:48 indoor 800m, 8:35 steeple , 9:52 steeple , 2:03 woman’s 800m. All in one year to name a few top results. It’s been a long time seeing that many distance athletes at a NCAA Championships.
I would never say anyone is better or worse as a coach. The facts are Brosnan did a great job and when you do great things the haters will hate both Santos and Brosnan. It’s human nature to hate what you don’t have or can not have.
Final analysis Brosnan and Santos have had great results and can coach.
School records, yah! I guess he is that great. If we can list all the coaches that have coached sub 8:00 3k, 13:37, etc, etc, the list would be really, really long. Would you say all coaches who have those results are great? Doubt it.
The point is that he coached his many of his athletes to new PBs and even school records you nonce - do you expect everyone to be an NCAA record holder? A coach's job is to maximize the potential of his athletes and that's what he did.

You’re right I would call it Amazing in one year. Actually unbelievable too, for what he was handed.
I spoke to Brosnan at the USTFCCCA convention last year for about an hour. This dude lives training. He’s not just throwing spaghetti on the wall and sees what sticks. He’s definitely unauthodoxed in certain ways. My assessment is he’s kind of scientific, outside the box and passionate. I have noticed Most top coaches I want to hear from won’t do clinics and seminar's and Brosnan is one of them. I don’t know if Brosnan and Mike Smith are similar, but there is a reason he got the results he did. I’ve actually found lot of his ideas helpful with my own teams training.

Ok, so now coaching athletes to PB’s makes you great? Literally all college coaches get runners to run PB’s. He did a great job of getting several of his best runners hurt last year too.
Puts into perspective how special German Fernandez was in his freshman year at college. NCAA 1500m champ. World Junior Indoor mile record holder. Ran both solo from the front.

coaching and getting results like 13:34 5000m, 3:56 mile , 3:39 1500m , 8:33 3200m , 1:48 800m , girls 4:36 1600m multiple individual and relay National records with HS athletes. Those times are hard to come by in college , yet it was HS. He literally changed the way kids think about what’s fast in HS. Along with those fast results at UCLA in one year makes him a beyond great coach. You obviously have personal hatred against coach Brosnan. Honestly when people reach unthinkable results it’s human nature to want to bring them down to your level.
Then Lex and Leo need to find themselves the right coach for their style if they want to thrive in this sport. I'm not going to blame Sean or anyone for this. But Leo and Lex are adults and need to make their decisions.
If either of them chooses academia over sport, that is fine too.
But they have to be clear on what they want.
Nico found a solid team that is a good fit with a solid coach like Mike Smith... but all siblings don't land on equal ground.
The younger Youngs have to decide what is best.
Brosnan could still be coaching Lex and Leo and they wouldn't be doing any better right now. They trained like pro athletes in high school, including altitude trips. They don't have much more to improve.
Jace Aschbrenner is having a bad college career, as is Daniel Appleford. Same with Ethan Duffy. Same with Nick Goldstein. Aaron Cantu too. Does Hector Martinez even run anymore?
Brosnan fanboys will tell you that they just got bad college coaches (even though their coaches are very accomplished). The reality is that Brosnan didn't prepare them for long term success. Brosnan is the reason for their struggles now.
How is it possible that every thread manages to get multiple people posting about Sean Brosnan….
Because when you have one of the most successful coaches you have jealous coaches who don’t know how to get results and that brings out hate in people.
accounting the haters If Lex and Leo ran well at Stanford it’s because they are talented and the coach doesn’t matter. And now that Lex and Leo have a different coach and running poor it’s suddenly Brosnan’s fault. The truth is Nico ran well with Brosnan and Smith because they are both good coaches. It’s not Brosnan’s fault that the Young twins picked Santos and Stanford. I think if they went to NAU they would be performing well.

Lex and Leo’s HS coach is better than most college coaches and for this reason the American system sucks for development. If they could have stayed with Brosnan it would have been better for long term running.
That being said gong to Stanford for school is not a bad choice either.
