Yep. It’s bigotry driving these opinions and not just regular old facts. Give me a break! If that’s all you’ve got to defend your opinion then you’ve already lost.
The only thing you can point to in your favor is how these guys did at Foot Locker. You are apparently the only person on the planet that thinks Foot Locker was a more prestigious win than NXN. Jojo and Simmons wipe the floor with your guys in XC. And their schools are closer together, which apparently is a thing for you. No they won’t be going to Penn this year. How about your PA boys come out to Arcadia and run in a real distance meet. Oh, but why do that when you can run in a less prestigious meet and guarantee yourself a win.
I'm not even sure how this is a debate. Griffith had the highest speed rating of the season, the nfastest 5k of the season, was under the previous state meet course record, and won Foot Locker. His only loss of the season was to Pajak in a qualifier meet in which Pajak broke Andy Powell's 25 year old Franklin Park course record. I'm not sure who else would have a better claim on national champion. It's not his fault that the other kids ducked him by running NXN.
Facts! There’s an argument I can respect, although “fastest 5k of the season” is meaningless in XC. I still think JoJo and Simmons are better than Griffith. It’s a shame we will never know for sure though because he ran the easier race.
OED, you kind of have to stop this by now..Both Pajak and Griffith would have run in the top 5 at NXN.. Nj's Jimmy Wischusen who had a rough year for him. was NO WHERE near the level as his Junior year and he was 7th at NXN. They both would have thrashed him heads up. Are they more talented? NO!, But we are talking right now. The two Pa. kids are great not good..can run with anyone anywhere, if you don't think that, I cannot help you, or you have to do the analysis yourself. Any 8:48 type is going to tun in the top 5 at NXN, every year. Plus he is probably fitter than that right now.
Yes that's how racing works sometimes. Nathan Rummler from Lone Peak got 4th at the Utah 6A meet and not only lost to those kids, but didn't even qualify for nationals at FL West. Sometimes kids have good days and sometimes bad.
You don’t say.
The guys I referenced ran fairly consistent with how they’ve run all year, which supports the claim that Foot Locker is much weaker than NXN.
The runners who did NXN over footlocker chose to run in the team championship race. Footlocker is the individual championship race. The team championship race obviously still has an individual winner but it’s not the individual championship.

Why is this so hard for you to grasp? I’m pushing back against the guys saying Griffith is the best because he won Foot Locker. I’m pushing back against the guys who refuse to acknowledge how incredibly weak the Foot Locker field was this year. Yes, the PA guys are great. No, they are not the best. The best individuals were at NXN this year. The PA boys were not. It’s that simple. This could have all been decided on the course but the PA boys chose the weaker competition. Had they run NXN, we wouldn’t be discussing this because we would know.

Facts don’t matter when you are biased against Griffith because he’s not from Utah or California.
I’m biased against him because chose the weaker race instead of testing himself against the best. You can’t claim to be the top guy when you do that. I don’t care about where HE is from.

Speed ratings (aka objective statistics) would disagree with you. They would indicate that Griffith was the better runner all season and that the NXN kids chose the weaker competition.
Let's take a moment to appreciate Brayden Marshall and Ty Steorts of WV at 5th and 6th. Big day for the Appalachian Plateau area in the more competitive race.

Highest Tully rating Boys and Girls from Foot Locker. Most competitive fields all year confirmed by Bill.

Speaking of east coast biases. The top 4 boys’ performances were not done by guys from the northeast, but it’s par for the course from Bill. But hey, at least the ratings give XC parents who know nothing about the sport something to talk about.
Running in standing water on a tough course earned a whole 1.5 bump in rating from the year before. That seems totally reasonable.
