She will be running much harder as she bumps up to pro training.
It looks like she's already started that pro training as she is looking fit and trim now. Yay! Here's to Tuohy having a long and successful running career.
I just hope Valby has a supportive inner circle when her bubble bursts. She is on fire right now, just as Tuohy has been at times. After the spectacular performance last weekend, I hope she is prepared for the first time she runs over 15:00 in the 5K and this site lights up with the "she's done, washed up, peaked, only going to get slower...has she gained weight?" threads. Tuohy has carried most of that weight for many years now. I am glad for her to have someone to help shoulder the load, but wish there didn't have to be a load to begin with. Considering how many of the prophecies have ended up being right about Tuohy (she proves this board wrong every time), you would think people would learn.
Valby is really quite tough. She handled the tangents issue brilliantly with the 'theorem post'. Similarly, 'Lets hate' shows she doesn't take the blabber here too seriously.
LOL Dodging Valby, Ramsden and other Collegians, by going Pro where she will be going against people MUCH BETTER than them like Kipyegon, Hassan, Gidey etc. It is not ducking when instead of racing who they say your ducking, you go up against people a lot better than them.
....Not to mention the most talented American youngster, Addy Wiley.
His hands are full, has a young family, great success with NAU. He may even step away from coaching pros after Paris.
She will be able to train with who she likes (even Mike Smith athletes) on easy days and will have her university coach providing the key workouts on hard days.
Good set up for her.
He’ll take on new pros eventually.
As has been posited by someone else, she’ll more than likely make a slow transition to altitude similar to what Hiltz did.
Now 3 thread about this. Going to Flagstaff will be a game-changer for her and she’ll get to train with Henes, Hiltz, and the other pros there.
Thus is great for her. I’m happy for her. She’s earned it.
I’m hoping that Marzekich, Valby, Wiley, and all the young & talented American women & men, also do well in getting and securing professional deals.
Where does it say she is going to Flagstaff? On the citius pod Henes made it sound like she is sticking around campys and training with the team. Unless I misinterpreted that?

Here’s the link to the interview.
She’s going to stay in North Carolina.
BUT, she’s going to do some altitude stints in Flagstaff and stay with Elly while she’s there.
“It’s cool to see one of your dreams come true. I remember one meeting we had in high school where my coach was saying how he'd never coached a professional ...

Nice coded message, dickwad.
Hopefully she's able to put the notable fluctuations behind her. She's a great runner and deserves to leave these inner-demons in the dust.

You are delusional. She will never threaten any of the three names you mentioned in a race, and likely never even race any of them. She is moving away from actual competitive racing for the win, and entering competitive training (helping pacing other pros during their longer workouts). Her best hope is to ride out the contract as long as possible until they realize she will never make a global team, and drop her.
Bingo. If Tuohy loses on the pro circuit, it’s no big deal because the expectations for her will be low. She’s supposed to lose to Kipyegon, Hassan, Tsegay, Gidey and the rest. Nobody will really notice or care.
Whenever Tuohy has lost at the NCAA level, it’s been a huge deal because the expectations were high and the spotlight has been on her.
Agreed. Parker has publicly paid KT respect numerous times.
Its why Valby called this site "Let's Hate" in her Citius interview. They have a fun athletic rivalry but people try to pit the two of them against each other and create a personal rivalry on top of that and its just weird.
Agree. It says a lot about a person when they try to incite vitriol towards other competitors, especially when Tuohy and Valby have shown nothing but respect and admiration for one another.
Congrats to Tuohy, it is an exciting time for women’s distance running in the US.
no disrespect to Tuohy but that's the ugliest uniform top i've ever seen. stripes, checkers, AND leopard spots? The bottom hole looks awkward.
Not even Tuohy (who is amazing) can sell that atrocity.
I was wondering if anyone would mention that. Adidas isn't in New Balance's league right now in terms of simple designs that stand out and flatter the female shape. It reminds me of NFL uniform redesigns where they somehow believe they need to mangle every square inch with one change after another.
And this is actually an improvement for Adidas, after the ridiculously overdone bodysuit designs from last season.
Good for her. Although staying at altitude would probably be ideal physiologically
J Ingebrigtsen lives at sea level, just spends a few months at altitude. Raleigh NC will be a fine base location. Having a coach/athlete relationship with good face-to-face communication and understanding and trust, is ideal.

This is true. And neither of them will ever be good enough to make a global team. But they sure do draw attention.
Sure. Let's be real: American-born white women, especially blondes (using the term pretty loosely), are going to draw attention. And sell shoes.
