Simmons was far better than Jourdon(and Westfall) all season. Not even in the same stratosphere. Anyone know what happened to Simmons? I'm assuming he fell?
Jason Parra being the top Cali kid is a big run for him. Wish the Cali south section kids did indoor or something, but gonna be a good battle outdoors.
odd years girls run 2nd so guys tear up the course. 2017 was fairly sloppy, 2018 was much better, 2019 was worst of those 3 years.
Thanks all!
Are Leachman, Forsyth, and Englehardt seeded top 3?
After seeing the boys' results I have a hard time seeding runners due to the muddy conditions. Under drier conditions these three and a few others are the favorites. But who knows which are the best mudders. In the boys' race Jourdan, Todd and Neil all figured to be up there. But what happened to Simmons, Grevious, Mechura and a few others?
Underrated point. It turns out that coaching matters. It's not the only thing, of course, but it looks like an essential ingredient. We've seen several hugely successful programs turn into merely good programs when the coach leaves (NP, GO, LV...) but I think this is one of the few times we've seen a successful coach duplicate high-level success at another school
Until Sean Brosnan make his epic comeback at a new high school with the Old twins and the Sandman brothers!
The conditions just change so much from year to year it's rarely an apples to apples comparison.
2022 was about the best it has ever been in that regard.
One thing to be said about FootLocker, the conditions in San Diego are typically always, without fail, consistent and beautiful; so there is at least that for comparing times..

Technically there are no seeds, but those 3 have the 3 highest speed ratings this year.
Forsyth should be able to handle a cold, wet, muddy course, but it will be interesting to see how warm weather runners Leachman and Englehardt do in these conditions.
Leachman once said that it's too cold for her when it's dry and 50 degrees, and now she needs to deal with wet and sub 50.

Are all three of them planning to run FootLocker, too?

Which is why it is interesting that Engelhardt turned down an NXN invite last year to run Foot Locker, but then this year she decided to do NXN instead.
SoCal native Englehardt seems like she would do better in sunny San Diego than in rainy Portland.
