I'm closing this whole thread to new posts. It's served its purpose and I don't know what else can be said on the matter.
I must state though that many of the posts in this thread, particularly the ones praising Mike Smith while ripping Dave Smith disgust me.
Those posters are basically saying, "If you recruit foreign athletes that are white, you are a high integrity person like Mike Smith, but if you recruit foreign athletes that are black, then you are shady and don't deserve respect."
Take your racism somewhere else.
The reality is Mike Smith trotted out a women's team yesterday with four transfers on it including three of who were from outside the US. He was doing everything he could to win that race just like Dave in the men's race.
The school website doesn't have the age listed and if you look at his world profile he is listed as 2003……He is only a 13:43 guy and definitely a cross-country guy!
interesting how Debis Kipngetich got his personal information including his age removed lol. Dave, is that you trying to remove evidence? Lol It was there last night. Haha. His world athletic profile still reports him being 22.

Dude! This is not him….show me cross-country results in that link…I just gave you a link with the 2023 cross-country results but you decided to go with the older Denis. Did he just remove his age on the school profile on a Sunday😂😂😂
No, you’re the one using the wrong profile. Look at your spelling to your link. It says “Dennis Kingetich” that’s the wrong Denis my guy. His name is Denis Kipngetich lol. My link matches the name as is on the OSU website. You have the wrong profile. Good old Dennis is indeed 22 years old. Nice try Haha

Looking at the athletes OK State ran at the Midwest regional, Galvydyte (#5) is Lithuanian, and Sivan Auerbach (#6) is Israeli. So, adding Jepkirui, that makes 2/5 of their scorers and 3/7 of their varsity runners international athletes. I'm not making a value judgement about recruiting foreigners, but the makeup of the OK State women's varsity isn't that much more American than NAU's.
I was looking at a 2016 list. You are correct that ND and Dartmouth are now AAU schools. They weren't then. Oregon's an AAU school now. Does anyone here think that is a great research university? The University of South Florida is an AAU school now. So is the University of Utah. That's a research giant in cold fusion, right? The University at Buffalo another AAU school. Same with GW. Another true giant like the University of Miami.
Well, Messaoudi was 12th at nationals in xc as a freshman, whereas Sahlman was far, far back, so how much of a factor was Dave Smith's coaching honestly after three months in that difference? I'll give you Nico Young as a talented freshman. 13:50 on a hot day with poor pacing with the season wiped out due to COVID doesn't accurately measure the kind of prospect Nico was. Even he did not get his 4th in November like several of Dave Smith's "freshmen" are looking to do.
I ran at OSU 1970-73. During my time there international athletes were the leaders of the cross country team. I attribute any modest success I had to having their leadership, maturity, and hard work. They are still among my closest friends. One of these teammates built a research engineering business that was once among the largest private businesses in Stillwater.
In regards to Coach Dave Smith he has been very proactive with the alumni through emails, Zoom calls and reunions. I have been back for at least four reunions. In fact received an email after the Regional Meet for a lunch get together. He has recruited several Idaho athletes where I live, some going there, others not. I find him to be a very well rounded coach for the NCAA level, which in today’s world is recruiting, fund raising, and coaching.
Lol, it is more than obvious that was an error! All Kenyan names are KIP not KIN(Kipngetich not Kingetich)
There are 3 Denis Kipngetich(400/800), (Steeple/10), and lastly Okstate(5000/cross-country.
Sure my guy whatever you say. A world Athletics profile with the name Denis Kipngetich and the age of 22 is a mistake lol. Not to mention his profile on the OSU website as of yesterday also had his age of 22 but today removed. Hmm 😂😂
what about Adisu Guadie? Are you going to deny that he’s a 21 year old freshman? His age is actually still on the OSU website. But the way it’s going will probably be removed tomorrow lol 😂😂

Dude, you’re miserable. Holy crap, “omg Dave smith and Kenyans omg, let me make this about me and my feelings”. Okay buddy. As somebody who recently competed at the NCAA level at the competitive stage, I appreciate international athletes. They pushed me to be better and slapped the reality into my face that I’m not good globally. And that’s what will make and develop American athletes to be great. You think Grant fisher would have been as good as he is today if he didn’t get slapped around by international guys? (Morgan McDonald, Justyn knight, mo ahmed in training).
When I earned my first All- American honor, half the guys in front of me were international. What did I tell myself? “Get better, get over this accolade. It doesn’t mean anything”. You are truly miserable on this message board. “Kingrey”- more like “kingloser”.

Dude stf up. You sound like a high school freshman. You haven’t been following the thread obviously. It’s not about age. It’s about hiding the fact that Oklahoma State’s “freshman” are 22 and 21 yrs old. Smith is not breaking any rules but recruiting his fans here are denying the facts. OSU is running with a team Africans and his “freshman” are 22 and 21 years old. Period. Stop trying to hide the facts like a little btch. That’s what this thread is about. Liars are annoying and so are losers who haven’t been following the thread.

I laughed a bit when you started talking the age thing. In the second year of my first coaching job I had a Kenyan that had to be over 30. I was at a junior college, and he went on to get into the Hall of Fame at Clemson. At the time, 1979 I was 28, this gentleman had competed at the 1964 Kenyan Olympic Trials, and had a wife and kids back home. Of course this was before the age rule, and this guy could whoop most Americans, juco or otherwise. His name was Julius Ogaro. and has since passed away. Nice guy.
Oh, and I watched the Stillwater regional meet. Both OSU teams look really good. If they run like they did at regions they will be very strong contenders at the NCAA.
Removed? Please stop lying, nothing has changed since last time i checked. As i mention above! There are 3 guys with similar, Denis(Dennis-for 3 of them) if I go with your poor logic then Denis with one N doesn’t exist in the world athletics profile.
