With dating apps & social media, women have so many options these days it's not even funny
For example, an average-looking but fit women or overweight woman who is pretty can create a profile on a dating app & within days she'll have dozens - perhaps even hundreds - of guys "liking" her & sending messages to her. And many of these guys are so desperate & thirsty for women, they"ll say or do just about anything to sleep with her.
As a consequence of all the attention & validation a women gets on a dating app or social media, she becomes conceited & picky with the type of guys she'll date.
And if you have an interest in one of these women that are on dating apps & social media, you'll be competing with tons of other guys for her attention & approval!
IMO, dating apps & social media has ruined dating for so many guys. It wasn't like this pre-internet when there wasn't so much competition for available girls in your community.
Times sure have changed....🙁
Yeah basically this, dating apps have ruined things. Tons of 20s/30s/40s year olds use dating apps, and dating apps are HEAVILY favored toward women. Everyone knows men have to send tons of messages on dating apps and any decently cute girl on dating apps have to sift through tons of messages every day. That's just the dynamic that has naturally developed because women are much less likely to take the initiative in dating, so it naturally plays out that men don't receive many messages and therefore have to send many, meaning women receive tons of messages and therefore have their pick of tons of different guys at any time.
This means women have tons of option and can just go on to the next guy on their list any time they want. I've literally been told by women that they set up dates and don't consider the date to be an actual plan and they'll just cancel previously set up dates at any time right up to the start of the date if someone they are more interested in asks them out. So dates are temporary plans unless they don't find another date to replace it. It's just the situation that the very lopsided online dating market has produced.
I think online dating totally explains what the news story is stating. Well, also with the country becoming more politicized like 50% of men are extremist crazy anti-women conservatives that no self-respecting woman would want to date so that also makes a large portion of men undateable in the first place for the average sane woman. But even without that, online dating accounts for what is going on.
