My guess? He'll attack Komen's 3000 WR sometime in the spring/early summer next year, provided he stays healthy. He'll then concentrate all of his effort doubling the olympics. 1500 and mile records may fall in 2025.
Are you gaslighting me? What do you mean nobody cares. How about nobody cares about the distances 2000m and 2miles then? I'm a Jakob fan but how about I say it only counts when he breaks the 1500m and 5000m and 10000m WRs?
When Kerr beat Jacob why didn't you come say that nobody cares the 1001 reasons Jakob lost to Kerr because the race was run and one beat the other? Ridiculous much......
I correct the mistake. He wasn't jogging, he was dead exhausted on 5th take of the video as he had just finished a tough WC in Seville 1999 where he ran the final in 3:27:65 if I'm not wrong. Whereas the 1500m and mile wr came early seaon May/June when he was still fresh. Now I'm not sure of how many days spanning the end of his WC races and the start of the 2000m WR race, maybe somebody can remember that for me? If it's 2 weeks like Jakob had to rest from his WC exertions then 4:44 would be an actual effort at maximum energy. But if it's like 3, 4, 5, even 7 days then maybe it's not that ideal. 2 weeks is best....
There is only a very tiny window of probability for all that you say to materialize for Jakob. Come on, he is getting married to Elizabeth, and you know marriage changes the dynamics of the human physiology and immunology ever so slightly, not that much, but at the elite top level just 0.1% change is enough to throw off true WR shape. Jakob's biomechanical form seems to deteriorate year upon year since 2021 Tokyo. He is running with a more and more sagging right shoulder causing an unsymmetrical arm swing carriage when he runs. Affects his foot strike and the amount of force he can apply to the ground too. take a look at 4:39 in this video of his just completed 2000 WR race. You will see what I mean. He is not getting faster with such horrendous biomechanics. it's a sign of burgeoning turmoil within his biophysical body, an imbalance is festering and magnifying, whatever that imbalance may mean...
Which post please be specific? do you mean the impending marriage to Elizabeth? You mean you didn't know all the great track runners at 1500m, 5000m, 10000m all deteriorated from their best form once they got married? It's my personal unique observation though. Marital union deteriorates natural raw speed and speed endurance which has nothing to do with lack of training. It affects slower endurance like marathons to a lesser extent. And doesn't do anything to ultra-trail marathon endurance.

I’m not gaslighting and it’s not like I’m even saying el g has been removed from goat status (yet). I just think all those contextual factors are not worth thinking about. People certainly care less about the off-events because they aren’t run as often and aren’t in the Olympics. It’s still a big deal to break any world record/best, it’ll just be a bigger deal if he gets one of those others.
And in response to the kerr thing, I think given the body of work over the past few years, Jakob is better imo, but he wasn’t on that day so Kerr is the champ and you can’t discount that. Maybe it was because illness, maybe it just wasn’t. To me, the sport gets boring as a fan when you focus on hypotheticals instead of appreciating the end result for what it is.
I'm so perplexed by people calling Jakob a workout hero.
He's 22 and has won gold in 3/5 of the last global titles he's competed in, getting silver in the other 2/5. It took El G three tries to get his Olympic gold.
He needs to go for real world records now. I haven’t seen him attempt 1500 record or 3 k record. I know Gerrouj went for the 1500 record 5 or so times. Needs to man up for the competitive distances.
No, he just needs to go for WC gold in the 2k and 2-mile and he's good.

I actually think these WRs might be hurting Jakob's confidence. It's like he wants to keep proving to himself that he is the world's best at something in between 1500 and 5k (the events that matter), and he is doing just that.
