Huge day for Great Britain MD already. 3:30.6-3:31.3 PBs for Gourley, Giles and Stonier. Giles definitely vindicates his spot on the team over Mills, who laid an egg. Stonier (3:31.30) is only 21, a few months younger than Hocker.
Adam Spencer (Australia/Wisconsin) 3:31.81 is a total shocker. Hocker runs his second fastest time ever at 3:32.14 and he’s probably quite disappointed, finishing 13th of 15. Still, I think it’s important to keep in mind how close 13th is to top 5 at this level (0.84 seconds today), so no reason for real discouragement.
That was impressive as hell by Nuguse. When he saw the gap to McSweyn was starting to stretch, he did the work to start closing it down. Then to hold off Nordas and Gourley in the home straight was terrific. Measured it perfectly.
Jakob is on another level and I have no doubt he would have won today, but Nuguse is in a great spot for a medal right now.
Good showing by Nuguse. Where was Olli? I thought he was scheduled.
I think he’s a little injured. Must have been a late scratch. Nice run by Yared and great time considering the early pacing. Hocker was in the back at the end, but he is getting stronger and stronger, btw. Not sure he’ll be fully ready in a month, but I things are on the upswing for him.
Thanks. He sounded optimistic in Coffee Club last week, but they always do. I like those dudes
I'm surprised to see Timothy C. finish in 8th. Disappointing for the former world champion.
He got caught up in the fall, and ran far too much extra the entire race. He needs to go out harder in these DL races like the old days if he wants to be top 2-3. That being said, his fitness is good and it’s all about the championships where he’ll be running in the pack more.

He was describing sports hernia type issues on the last podcast. I hope his version is not too bad-- I just had this myself and it really sucked.
At least Hocker didn’t embarrass himself like Teare or Prakel. For his first DL, this is fine. 2 second sb is solid and he has three weeks to get fit/sharpen up for the race that really matters.
I had him at 13.5. Not terrible, but everyone seemed to want the positions behind him. He could've been out a little quicker, but it was fine enough.
Yeah 13.4 per race splits. I guess the issue was more everyone expecting him to immediately string it out with 13.1-2/13.9. Instead he went 14.6/14.3 from 100-300 which is objectively too slow, sorry.
Wait sowinski paced the 800 just some minutes ago clocking a 49! Makes sense why he might have been a little slower. That’s very impressive nevertheless
