Seems like Shelby is keeping in great shape. It’s going to be epic watching the meltdown on LRC when she comes back from her ban and starts winning races again. Only 18 more months!
not a meltdown but maybe disgust...but will she be running faster after the ban or slower? so far she seems to not be slowing down...
The most obvious doper as can be. LOL. I mean it is completely normal to go from 4:09 at the end of college to 3:54, a time only heavy dopers can run. And we have the appearance of the "undertrained" myth. So the jury is still out on someone with an obvious doping progression, a doping positive, and the dumbest "defense" as is human possible to come up with. Like I said, this sport is hopeless.
Imagine what it would be like to have competent anti-doping agencies that actually catch the dopers so that we wouldn't have to speculate and could instead just assume that anyone who didn't get caught had a 99% chance of being clean.
Could have would have should have. Give me a break.
she ran 4:09 coming out of college dropping it to 4:03 in her first year as pro. 2017 saw a plateau and then out of no where she is running 3:57??? If you are running a 4:03 in your first year as a pro, a reasonable goal would probably be for you to break 4 at some point in your career but little miss doper made it look easy, and brought it down yet again in 2019.
Now pull her 5K times. See those jumps? 14:23 against one other person on an empty track.
Before she was caught it looked like she could just do anything. Very few runners improve at her absurd rate.
Shelby didn't plateau in 2017. She won her first national titles that year! She was a demonstrably better runner in 2017 than the year before. Even the letsrun crew noticed it and anointed her a star. They wrote: "Houlihan is establishing herself as one of America’s best distance runners." She was absolutely good enough to run 4:00 that year.
If she could absolutely run 4 flat that year why didn't she?
Good for her for winning the NT, but Shelby lowered her PR from 15:08 to 15 flat. Again steady non suspicious progression from her in 2017--But to lower your PR from 15 flat to 14:34 the following year is bonkers.
You have had the decision and the rules rammed down your throat in utter detail a score of times but you still refuse to read them.
There is a huge difference between your claim (i.e. the panel did not know that she cheated) and the rules (deemed intentional). But sure, lie about me (i.e. that I neither read the rules nor the decision) instead of admitting that you are wrong.

Another attempt to mouth about the rules without a hint of depth or actually reading them.
The rules are clear ; to evaluate guilt they are not to evaluate intent.

Not sure why this is getting downvoted. Are people actually against the idea of having anti-doping agencies that reliably and consistently catch dopers?
It's dissatisfying for the spirit of justice through vengeance here among some of the posters that Shelby seem to be getting away with anything, even training or racing unsanctioned events. If this distance was legit, the new unofficial American record holder in the road 10k is not going to be beaten like a drum by any Americans when she's back. Maybe Monson or Schweizer or Mu with an extra 10 mpw will be able to hang with her, maybe not. She is still the American record holder in the 1500m and 5000m and does not seem to have lost much.
Imagine somehow she was actually innocent or just negligent and America missed out on this talent during her prime.
I still wish she'd have just shut up, admitted to it, and got only a 3 year ban. Sigh.
But then why do that and be labeled an admitted doper for her life, when she feels she’s innocent. I know Shelby and I can tell you all she’s definitely not worried about letsrun opinion.
This has to be short course. No way she ran that fast.
I was wrong. Unless the race veered on a different course or shortened for another reason, the course appears to be 10K. I just did a quick Google Map measure distance. This is pretty impressive.
Her Nike contract was still paying her, right? Pretending to be innocent, this delaying her suspension was a cash payoff.for her and Nike PR both especially after the disastrous Salazar violations
I wonder now if Shelby went to set up the burrito story because she knew she was about be fail the blood test. Anabolics are a big part of US meat industry.
Do athletes serving a 4 year ban get tested during the ban while not competing…? Just wondering, could she just be absolutely full-throttling PEDs right now while banned? Lol.
I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be even training, much less racing during a doping ban. It's defeats part of the purpose of a ban if you use the time to get I'm great shape for when your ban expires.
It is not a sense of vengeance. Just complete exasperation. What the heck has to happen for some of the commenters here to admit doping? Get a positive test with no credible explanation? No. Be directly associated with known dopes? No. Run times that are clearly suspect which historically only dopers have run? No. Have a progression that makes no sense for a clean athlete? No again. Houlihan has all of these red flags, yet some people here will accept nothing short of an outright confession, and even then would find a way to minimize it. I mean, "if it is legitimate"? My goodness.
