I really hope Aregawi and Chaptegei at least will be in. It would be lovely to see them racing against Ingebrigtsen. What a race! Anyway it is a mess that Kiplimo and Barega won't be in the startlist. If we had the same startlist of Monaco DL + Ingebrigtsen it would have been the highest quality startlist in 5.000m we have ever had in a World's championship since Saint Denis 2003. Probabily even better than that one.
affirmative action? OK fox news, lighten up francis. I was referring to why these athletes were not running. Some of them could easily get a dL invite. They got 30 days! You would agree some of these DL meets in Olympics year and this year are suffering to round out some fileds?
The startlist is quickly getting worse hour after hour. We could have had all Aregawi, Cheptegei, Kiplimo in the 5.000m but no more Chaptegei actually. 400mH could have been even better with all the three aliens in the competition while no more Benjamin.
Rai Benjamin no longer on the start list. Oh well, Warholm vs. Dos Santos should still be the best 400h race we’ve seen all season, men or women.
No El Bakkali or Wale in the Steeple. Now it’s wide open. Koech (Kenyan Champ) might be the favorite with Kibiwot/Sime having better overseas credentials however. I assume Kipruto will DNF.
Mburu dropped out of the 5,000 unsurprisingly and Kuma Girma is in. Kipkoech pacing means it could be swift. Rowden added to the 800, good race to see if Brits/Americans have any chance at Worlds.
Jamaicans filled out the 100, but the Africans have to be the favorites.

Now i expect others to retire.
Cheptegei was never gonna run this one. He’s not racing again til Worlds.

Still it's not clear to me which of the 10.000m runners in Budapest will also run the 5.000m. Who do you expect to be in the 5.000m startlist at the World's Championships of theese names? Kiplimo, Kejelcha, Aregawi, Oscar Chelimo, Cheptegei

5,000: Kiplimo, Aregawi, Kejelcha, Haile Bekele/Gebrhiwet(faster SB gets in, loser is alternate with chance to replace Aregawi), Cheptegei, Oscar Chelimo (if healthy), Krop, Kipkorir Kimeli, Cornelius Kemboi, Simiyu Ebenyo

Great, if the names are all of those you mention + Jakob Inge then It is going to be an incredible startlist and hopefully an entertaining race.
Certainly should be closer to the 5k last year was supposed to be. Kejelcha, Katir and Kiplimo currently all healthy. Aregawi and Kejelcha not overraced. Cheptegei ideally doesn’t get hurt in prelims. 2 fresh Ethiopians at least. Krop and Kipkorir Kimeli have intentionally raced less too.
Oscar Chelimo is set to race tomorrow in Luzern at the Spitzen Liechtathletik against Lobalu and others over 3000
Uganda could have 4 in the 10000 with Rogers Kibet (27:07) and Joel Ayeko (XC rankings) qualified to join Cheptegei and Kiplimo. It would hardly be surprising if, like the past 4 global champs 10000, Ayeko or Kibet led early to held the others as a team tactic like Mande or Kissa have done in the past
Cornelius Kemboi into the 5000 but both Krop and Kimeli are out; Krop talked of over racing last year so maybe both just want to focus on Budapest and maybe surprise some people there. Was looking forward to seeing them stack up with the rest in Monaco so a bit disappointing
