Sounds like you want her to fail, but be careful what you wish for. She’s run an 8:35 3k and is athletic.
I agree. 15:30 is significantly slower than Tuohy’s PR. Even though Tuohy has looked off, she would have been able to run faster than that. She didn’t look herself in that 1500; did they over estimate what she could handle these past few weeks and she’s tired?
But, she didn’t run. The starting time was 9:55pm; Valby was at the starting line and Tuohy wasn’t.
There’s a drag queen story hour tonight on campus at UT
So weak.
Oh yeah? Well, I say your account name proves a level of idiocy evermore...
Here’s an idea, buddy, take your own advice, and just “Take the L and move on!”
That's because you aren't actually here to have a discussion. You are here to tell people why your opinion and your opinion alone is the correct one.
Crap happens. A bad weekend for her. I am still not sure why she went all crazy at the semis. She looked spent already at that point. I don't she runs well in heat. There is an IG post of Sophie O'Sullivan holding drinks with caption about TX heat. Some runners don't do well in heat.
a name is just a name. Dumb uninformed posts say a lot. Another failure - The Millrose hs mile when she was even more of a favorite than she was today and finished 5th I think. Maybe think a little before you write something.....

Well, the reason was to get an NCAA title. That's a pretty good reason. USATF could get her on the team, but there are actually a lot of U.S. women who have run at least ten seconds faster than her and several who have run 20-40 seconds faster (Schweizer, 14:26, Monson 14:32, several in the 14:40s, etc.).
To make the team she will still need to get the world standard of 14:57.
Some of the people here make it seem as if I am going out on a crazy limb. She beat Valby doubling at regionals but she would not have won this race fresh? That seems like a stretch. My guess is she is worn down a bit but it would not have mattered in the 5000m as a stand alone race. Oh well.
Yes, and it does not change the very simple point I am making. Anyway it is done and dusted.

The point is WE DON'T KNOW BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T RACE.
She looked terrible in the 1500m. Maybe she would have won the 5k if fresh, or maybe she would have looked terrible there too. It would have been nice to see her race to get a comparison point.
What's the point in talking hypotheticals half an hour after the race where she DNS'd?
Clayton Murphy 2017 800/1500 attempted double? Fail. The double in mid/distance doesn't work.
I'm not picking sides, just gonna say a fresh Tuohy vs fresh Valby woulda been a hell of a 5000 final.

I just checked the results and there’s no asterisk near Valby’s name.

Yes I will go with Tuohy would have won another national title if she had only run the 5000m. If you want to try to extrapolate from the 1500m, enjoy. But even assuming that she is worn out, a 15:30 was not going to beat her.
Tuohy ran 4:11 tonight, what’s her pr? Is it 4:06? So she was way off her game tonight, right? 15:30 5000 under these conditions is fast and what makes you think 15:30 would have been the winning time if Valby had to run faster? Referencing what peak Tuohy might do, or even what Tuohy might have done last month or last week is irrelevant to what happened tonight.

But you don’t think Valby might have peaked a little early last fall by the time of Natty Champs, after running the fastest 6k Cross Country Race in collegiate history earlier in the fall, after previously laying down a course record in Texas?!
But in your mind, ‘excuses’ only get to apply to KT.
