I would take Mas. Jackson as the winner and St. Xavier for 2nd. Jackson returns a great team, and St. X really improved during track season. Kilbourne has too big of a 1-5 gap. Mason, Lancaster, and Coffman lost a lot of talent.
You sound like every other whining poster on this website. Just admit it, Kilbourne is going to be the top team in central Ohio this year, whether you like it or not. No other team has the depth like we do, and no other team wants this state title as much as we do. 🐺AROOOOOO
5th man times from last year's qualifying teams out of region 3...
Lancaster - 16:17 (Schorr)
Davidson - 16:32 (Rona)
Coffman - 16:39 (Heyob)
Orange - 16:55 (Giacomelli)
Pick N - 17:07 (Sanders)
The year before, those guys PRs were 17:40, 17:10, 18:05, 16:27, and 17:08, respectively.
So of these teams 5th men, only Giacomelli had a better PR going into last year's season than Kilbourne's 5th man has coming into this one.
I think you may want to rethink your criticism of Kilbourne. Esp with Smith and Miller out front, a very solid #3 in Hawkens (16 flat), and a handful of 4:50/10:15/16:40-17:00 guys.
It's them, Orange, and Jerome for the team title in Region 3.
I thing Coffman may have a shot at the team title for Region 3. Looking back at last years Region 3 race, Coffman had the fastest 6th and 7th place finishers who are both returning. Even though they lose a strong 1-2 from McGraw and Shaugnessy, I don’t think it will be as detrimental as people think. Bolton from Coffman was close behind McGraw during the post season races last year, and he was only a sophomore, and they return every other runner.
That's a good group. I will say, Coffman has a fantastic coach and they will always be a factor. I just don't think they'll be able to contend with those other teams without front runners like Liam and Will were.
Can someone explain to me the hype around mas. Jackson? I’m seeing a lot of people saying they’ll be outstanding this year despite only placing 7th at states last year after a lot of similar hype.

Well they lost almost no one. They also had some guys missing at the state meet

It’s actually the “Wor. Kilbourne winning state” hype that is a lot more confusing.
They have a great top 3, and a good enough 4th and 5th to get the team to state, but not enough to help them win it
