He stated 'students of African descent' don't care about education. Obviously this is false when you look at how Nigerians , Ghanians, Ethiopians, etc all view education
I will give him big thumbs up. Even with affirmative action this is a great achievement. He said he was going for the Guinness record as the reason for applying to so many schools. The one who held the previous record was a joke. She went to a clown college with 85% acceptance rate. Anyone can get scholarship to college. You just to apply to one that is easy to get in. Really.
Does seem kind of silly to apply to a whole bunch of schools you'd never consider actually attending, but of all the ways a 17 or 18 YO could choose to entertain himself, this doesn't seem too terrible.

Many schools waive fees if you apply before certain dates. Others waive fees I suspect to get their numbers up. My kid applied to most of his schools for free. (11 out of 15)
Anyone from a low income family can apply for a fee waiver when taking the SAT. This in turn makes most college applications fee free, including Cornell.
I wrote my own companion piece to the vagina monologues called the penis apologies so I know a thing or two.Streaming now on Peacock: https://pck.tv/3mPrdWBW...
It’s a new age. Common App allows you to apply to multiple colleges with a single application. Not all colleges use it, but it wouldn’t be too time consuming to apply to hundreds of colleges with little effort.
Now why you would want to apply to that many colleges is a whole other question. Why apply to colleges that you haven’t even toured or visited?
People I know who went to Cornell or even Brown / Dartmouth often say "I went to an Ivy" because everybody knows they're the bad ones
As mentioned earlier in this thread, Cornell has several programs or schools that are best of the Ivies, best in the USA, or best in the world, so I don't understand why anyone should agree with your disparaging remarks.
My only high school classmate who went to Brown as an undergraduate got a bachelors degree in math there and went on to win an Academy Award (as part of a team) for his work in animation.
Of the two people I know who attended Dartmouth as undergrads, one went to work for Goldman Sachs soon after graduating, and the other went on to Dartmouth Medical School and is now a medical doctor. One of my doctors also went to Dartmouth Medical School.
I'm glad I ended up looking it up because I found out the OP was incorrect. He was accepted to over 185 colleges, not 85.
He chose Cornell by the way.
Kid sounds like a loser
16yr old kid graduating 2 years early and accepted to an Ivy League school with a hefty scholarship and loser white boys have nothing but disparaging comments. This guy is literally better than 99.9% of where you guys were at age 16.
He most likely had application fee waivers to most of these universities. If you are accepted to a few Ivy League schools, you would virtually be accepted to all the other 99% of colleges in America.
How about we just be happy for this very smart and intelligent young man.

He is graduating HS at age 16 and already has college credits
