I was assuming it was short. So Zuck would DESTROY me in a 5k? This is depressing. I don't care if he's a decade younger than me.
The only thing I've got over him is we actually offer a phone number to call if you have a problem with our website. That and no one is blaming me for the fact that the moronic and super old Trump and Biden were elected president.
Bob Anderson (M75-79 winner & founder of Runner's World) ran it and had 3.11 on his GPS:
if he paid for a full time endurance coach, an s&c coach a full time Physiotherapist, a full time nutritionist, paid for a squad of 10 plus runners to train with daily and trained at altitude on as many miles as possible for a year, what would he run?
I’m saying 15.15, maybe 14.30 a year after that.
17:thirty-something would be my guess, and then never sub-17 because any further progress would be offset by aging.
The course is accurate from looking at the Strava of a few people who ran it, if anything it might have been a smidge long. The Stanford Athletic Department must have lent the organizers the thing that eludes your typical local race organizer--the measuring wheel.
As for rojo, since you're a Master's runner now, you need to look at age grading. A 19:34 at 38 is a 68.15% age grade. A 68.15% age grade at 49 is 21:15. So can you run a 21:15? If so, you're fitter than Zuckerberg. If not, you're not.

No way am I joking. Hes just ran 19.34 with no real training.
Imagine if he trained.
Also I don't find it hard to believe he ran 19.34. I ran 18.06 for 5k when I was literally fat and hadn't ran in about 3 month. A naturally light guy with some moderate running could easily get under 20 mins. He' also got the mindset, the belief and the desire that some of you letswingers don't

I love how the ruling class has managed to self-mythologize so that there's a whole pile of bootlickers to walk around on. Just gotta keep manifesting money, work on that mindset, get up even earlier. Yup. You'll break through soon!
Exactly, at 38 years old with no extensive running experience, it is impressive to hammer out a 19:34. Even an experienced 38 year old who ran 15's in his earlier days, would still need a minimum base of 20-30 to do a 19. you can fake 8 minute miles for a 5k, but hard to fake 6 minute miles for a 5k without some training.
If this is legit, which it seems to be, it is now my goal for my next 5km tempo run. I am in the 50-54 AG, so this is a decent, doable goal for me. Can I take down Zuckerberg? What is the exact mile pace on this? 6:15s?
Would you be more impressed if 17 out of 113 were sub 20, and the other 1000 stayed home?
I would. The popularity of running among people no good at it is mystifying. Slow runners are mainly slow because they'd be better weightlifters, football players, wrestlers.
Running did this to itself long ago by rewarding mere participation and downplaying competition.
I know this is just a few wankers complaining about the slow times, but this particular event is billed as a "fun run and walk" and is a community event and fundraiser. As can be seen from the results, it doesn't attract fast runners in the slightest as there are plenty of other races in the SF Bay Area to choose from.
The Bay Area has a very competitive non-pro running scene in general. Here's another set of results from a nearby 5k that is relatively quick every year, with not a single pro runner in the field. Is this more to your liking, you arrogant pr-cks?
Why is it so hard for some people to just say, "Nice job" and move on? Sub 20 5k shows a commitment to running far above the average citizen regardless of age, wealth, status, etc. Runners who were famous for something else include Jimmy Carter, Oprah, GW Bush and Bill Clinton. I respect all of them for going out and doing it, even though I may have fundamental disagreements with many things some of them say or do.
It is impressive given that it's unlikely he would have the time to do much mileage. Where would he do it anyway, given that he can hardly pound the pavements around town every day.

Yeah, Zuckerberg hardly have time to do any training. He doesn't have spend an hour here and there to laundry, he doesn't have to spend 30-60 minutes cooking food every day, he never need to go to the store, he doesn't have to clean his house, mow his lawn, watch his kids let alone drive them anywhere. He doesn't have to do chores around house, he doesn't have to go to get his car fixed. If he had used a hairdresser he would get them to come to his house which certainly his doctors and dentist do.
HOW DOES HE FIND TIME?
And don't forget, where would he run anyway? Not in his state of the art gym in any of his houses, and certainly not on his private island. Its not like he could buy himself a state of the art 400m track and pay a pro or a semi pro to run alongside him for every workout.
