I'm curious to see how Krissy Gear does - I think this is her first steeple race as a pro. She has been running very well lately. And McCabe is added now, exciting.
Wouldn't surprise me if the two are neck and neck. Sub-9:30 would be a great start for Gear and a long overdue barrier clearance (& confidence boost) for McCabe.
If Wayment is in 9:22--9:18 shape at the moment (my guess), she may have to work for it.
Tyrone Gorze and Connor Burns are in the 5k B heat with a bunch of 13:25-13:45 guys. Based on his race at NBIN Gorze could be ready to break 13:50, and I’m sure he’d like to beat Lex Young’s 13:43.95 PR, but that’ll be tough. Burns I’d imagine in the 13:50s on a good day.
In the age of Instagram, stupid me thought that people who were so hyped about her pacing and her successes lately, would actually follow her on IG or at minimum, go look to see if she posted anything. Her post saying she would not be pacing was there when I posted and 3 days later there are still people on this thread saying things like "Know her personally? I think that’d be the only way you could know that." Pretty odd that someone that confident in themself wouldn't take even the minimal step of researching on their own by clicking her Instagram. Which incidentally, would be another way of someone knowing that. It was also reported on in the Monday Fast Women newsletter, but I'm sure it's too much to expect this crowd to actually read about and support Women's athletics.

I don’t have instagram, nor follow any athlete. I read updates from various sources related to track & field.
Tall task to have to follow and read every single high-profile athlete out there.
It would make sense that if you post something that states a fact that you would add context to that fact, (such as a link that backs up why you would state that). Makes sense.
In this case, when you stated that fact (which it was fact come to find out). I checked sources around the globe for the past week that might have stated that. I didn’t see any related announcement. I did not look individually at an athletes instagram (and even if I had, I’m not subscribed to that so probably wouldn’t have been able to check it out anyway unless it was from a direct link, etc.)
Start lists are up for all events. Dani Jones and Micaela Degeneto are pacing the 5k. I originally thought there might be two different pace groups (14:50 & 15:00) but now I suspect these two will trade off leads to target 14:48 pace, and the chase pack will have to self-pace

I agree with this. I’m a hardcore Tuohy fan (hence the name), but I don’t follow her on Instagram, or any social media for that matter. I find and follow news about Tuohy here, TFRRS, TheStrideReport, etc…. I try to watch each competition she’s in but I certainly don’t follow her everyday activities and wouldn’t know if she was sick; unless of course, news came out about it.

Yes, but you are aware of these social media platforms and Strava, correct? So it was kind of unfair for UpperState to claim that the only way someone could know that Monson has Covid would be to know her personally while neglecting the possibility that it was disclosed via those outlets. I mean, respect to them for not being on Instagram, but it’s funny they’d say they “checked sources around the globe for the past week” when so much of these little personal news stories are of course broadcast via social media.
