Exactly how I feel. Not my jam, not what I’d do, but I respect her reinventing herself and capitalizing on it. Everyone is on their own journey. Looks like she’s having a great time in her life.
She’s using an impaired runner for attention and to bolster her image while not having to actually try at running herself. Sorry if that’s harsh it’s just so apparent. I’m all for being a guide but don’t do it the way she is
I actually feel bad for her. Struggling for attention and finding any means necessary to get it. The vegas pics... feels like what a 17 year old would find cool and funny. In your 30's, 40's it's just sad.
I don't see her as growing the sport at all, as I don't see her as a runner anymore. I mean, she does run, but a lot of people living a "Hollywood" life run. Diplo just ran a marathon on acid, for example.
I think maybe if people here just let go of the fact that she used to run competitively and accept that she has now moved on to other things, they could maybe stop letting her irritate them. Her whole faux avante garde look at me shtick is pretty run of the mill stuff - there are endless people out there with many more Instagram followers than her making money off of being "Instafamous", probably time to let it go.
People do things that they don’t have to explain to you. Why can’t you be happy that she’s successful and living the life she wants? Somehow always leads to name calling or insults. Pathetic.
Jealousy is a crazy thing.
The saddest thing about American society is that the majority lead very staid and boring lives. Rather than bust out of that self-imposed rut, they want to make anyone different conform to the same existential hell that they reside in. Rather than "live and let live", they get very worked up over anyone quirky, thrill seeking, neurodivergent, odd, etc. and then make it a point to criticize them or even legislate their differences out of existence.
Many folks will never be happy until the nation is only populated by WASPs with an affinity for khakis, golf shirts, soft rock hits, and mayonnaise.
I was with you the whole way until you go to the idiotic, MORANIC last sentence. WTF?
While you guys are jerking it to alexi rated G photos, none of you even bothered to COMPLIMENT her on guiding an impaired runner. Go choke on a bag of D’. F’n losers.

More than anything, this is what disturbs me the most about her schtick.
It's one thing to run with Diplo, but using a disabled runner for clicks and attention is outrageous.
When someone volunteers to be a guide, or a translator or whatever, it's about them, not about you. Yet here she is posting heaps of pictures of her front and center, thanking "Playboy" and all that.
Ultimately Alexi is a running influencer, who has an obsession with prestige and will take the easiest way possible to get there. Tired of hearing about her exploits.
Oh Jesus. The IG post with her in a black bikini top. If you click on it and go to other pics, there is a pic of her scrunched down and peeing in the desert. So much talent down the drain. She was definitely projecting sub 31 10K in new spikes if she kept training through Covid vacation.

This.
Insecure people still trying to win at being 23... in their mid-30s.
I would've loved to see her pan out as a runner but I can't really even be a hater to her at all anymore. It's working and she's growing the sport, sure it's in an odd way but whatever I see no harm. She's probably much happier now.

I ask this as neither a hater nor a fan of her, but just from curiosity.... does she actually make a solid living from all her instagram stunts / race pacing / whatever else? Like does she have any more films coming out? Do companies sponsor her? I see she's repping playboy gear here but is she on their books or is this just a one-shot deal? Is she the athletics equivalent of "famous for being famous?" She doesn't seem to exactly "work" a lot in the standard sense, but she seems to be at least sort of plugged into the Hollywood world, at least a little bit?
What I'm trying to figure out is, how much money do we think she actually makes, and how does she make it? Is she actually out there pulling in $$$, is she just partying it up on other peoples' dimes, or somewhere in between? As I say, not criticizing or celebrating, I just honestly can't tell. I really can't answer these same questions for most instagram types, so I figured I'd ask about the instagram type who at least was baller in my sport for a bit.

So much cringe.
I just feel bad for any adult over the age of 21 who makes "happy birthday to me" posts on SM. It's other people who are supposed to tell you happy birthday, not you telling everyone else. Nothing against Pappas specifically, I have no issue with her or what she does for a living. This is just something all narcissists do on SM.
She paced Lisa Thompson, a visually impaired runner, again at Boston this year. Whatever you think about her social media, she is a very good person for helping out a visually impaired athlete.

I am also a very good person. One time, I took my sister's dog out for his walk in a nearby park so I could use the dog to pick up chicks. Without me, the dog would not have gotten a walk.
